The weather has been insanely mild lately. Unfortunate for skiers and for fires come summer but great for some winter camping and soaking.

Finally got around to this little project since I’ve been stuck at home. One of the things I hate about the Alu Cab which isn’t even their fault is the dust intrusion. Tacoma beds have more holes than Swiss cheese so it didn’t seem possible to seal it all up.

I saw the RLD Designs shells have this air scoop that creates positive pressure to keep dust out. The people that have them say they work great. So I bought this two way low profile vent off eBay.

It was a little scary cutting a big hole in the roof the Alu Cab but it all turned out good and hopefully will help with the dust.

    Using the provided template:

Cleaned up the edges and painted it. Shouldn’t be an issue since it’s all aluminum.

This is what it looks like from the inside. Put the handle one way and it scoops and the other way it vents.

From the top. I can open it all the way and it just barely hits the tent. This is the second position from fully open.

A lot easier than the new tent. The soft shell I could slide on and off by myself.
