Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

No regrets so far. Takes a little getting used to driving around but still take it to work once a week running 60mph down the high way with one hand on the 2wheel.

Yea. I know a lot of people disagree with it/ think its illegal, however I did my research and bought all top of the line parts to ensure I shouldn't have an issue driving the truck.

 

I don’t care what people think, it’s just not easy driving a full hydro setup on the street. Trust me I would love to go full hydro on my 81 so I could ditch the panhard but I really like the feel of a box on the street

 

Agreed. I'm almost maxed out on my caster which helps the load sensing orbital "return to center" but I need about 2 more degrees to get it to act like I want.

 

We all like the feel of a box. Just maybe not from the street.

 

Baller set up, I almost did that on mine when I was killing racks.

How does it handle losing pressure? I stopped looking at those because there was no mechanical link between the steering wheel and tires in case the hydraulic system fails and I wanted a fail safe.

 

I’ll settle this competition.

Was hoping for some description of the two upward facing tabs on the front cross brace. Haven’t seen these in other pictures. In the parts list I see reference of 2 bolts for transmission lines. Are the two tabs meant to hold the cooler lines in the event a user wanted to completely relocate them and cut off the lower forward crossmember of the frame that holds those lines now? Only thing in that region is power steering lines currently.





I see a pic of OP’s truck on page 18 that has the front crossmember cut off but can’t see what happened to the lines that go to radiator and trans cooler.

Those tabs hold two factory crossmembers that go from the sub-frame forward to the cross member below the radiator. They also are the front mounts for the factory skid plate. Most aftermarket skid plates that I've seen have you remove them to install their skid.

 

I thought the factory skid plate bracket/mounts went from the horizontal threaded locations on the cross member (visible in first photo), and up to the radiator cross member on the bottom side. But maybe my memory is bad. Yes, most skids including mine have you remove those, but it has been a really long time since I've even seen those parts, kind of forgot they ever existed TBH.

The two tabs on the new assembly are both biased over to drivers side.

I think racebug was asking about the tabs on your part there, not the horizontal tabs with welded nuts on the stock frame

no, I get the alignment tabs that are on the backside. self explanatory there. These are the ones in blue that I am asking about.

 

Those are for the tranny lines when you cut the stock front crossmember off

 

And perhaps the steering cooler for those that install this on their 3rd gen though those guys don’t really off-road of course

 

OK, that is what I was originally asking/thinking. Acould probably do some hand bending of the hard lines, then re-make the rubber portion to mate up (passenger rubber lines could probably be shortened, but new longer ones on drivers side)
