tru-glo rifle scopes

anyone have any experience with the tru-glo riflescopes that tru-glo has out now?? i was looking at one today at dick's sporting goods.........and its a pretty nice looking scope. had a decent weight to it also. the one i looked at has illuminating cross hairs, and has a bdc markings too. im trying to find out if anyone has any experience with them, good or bad, cause im thinking about purchasing one for my .270.

right now, i have a bushnell banner 3x9x40, and its ok, but thats about it. and its sitting on top of some holden ironsighter mounts. i loved the mounts when i first got the gun, but i went to the range yesterday. last year...i zeroed 100 yards, and it was fine. now at the range....the bullets were all over the place. i turns out that the mounts were loose, and they will keep on getting loose over time. so when i get a new scope.....i'll be losing the ironsighter mounts too. got them tightened down, and i was back to hitting good at 100 yards, but the new scope is gonna be a bit bigger at 3x12x44, and im gonna go to better mounts since i never use the iron sights anyway. i figure that if im dead on at 100 yards, then anything up to 100, i'll be good to go using the scope anyway.

any info, pros/cons are appreciated!! by the way...here is what im looking at.......

Matter of fact yes I have, before I went with the Trijicon accupoint.
I first off went with the low cost one and ended up paying for it. Tried to mount it on a low recoil rifle and could not get it sighted in, even on a lead sled, the rounds went everywhere.
I have used the Infinity and the Thru-Brite, both seem to work out fine on a 30-06.
The bad thing for me was getting use to it, and looking down the scope, but when you grow up using the German plex, old habits are hard to break. You will either love it or get rid of it, I ended up taking it off my Kimber for something with better light transition.
In your mounts, I don't know what gun you are using, but if you have iron sights try to remove them and get the scope dropped as close to the barrel/receiver as you can. I have the specs here for the torque on the base screws (base Alum or steel) and same thing for the rings.
I ended up lately being a fan of Nikon scopes, last year during deer season a friend seen a deer at around 100 yards (+/-) light was about gone and he could not make it out, he was using a Leupold VX3, I brought up my Nikon and was able to see it was a small spike. Now I am not slamming Leupold, but even if you buy a scope, no matter what, before you mount it check it out during low light morning and evening. Then you can make you own call. And most places I know will take a scope back if it is not mounted.
I would also give Midway a look see, purchased most of my scopes through them, the are about the same if not lower than everybody, plus if you get their newletters, you know what coming up for sale a month in advance. I have seen great deals on obtic's in the letters, matter of fact I plan on upgrading my rangefinder to one of the new Nikons, I field tested it during turkey season, and boy did it pass with flying colors.

the gun i'll be putting the new scope on is a remington 7400 semi-auto chambered in .270. i actually looked at a nikon buckmasters today also........and i know they are awesome scopes..very clear and the adjustments are nice, but it was around $300. the tru-glo im looking at is $150, and it comes with the flip cap covers. im currently using the ironsighter mounts, but im gonna get rid of them and get rings that will keep the scope closest to the barrel.

 

Ya I do know what you mean, things just keep going up and up in price. I have a 4 power Nikon ($160) on my marlin .44 mag, and it does what it needs to do.
I would give Midway a look at while you are surfing. And let me know if I can be of any help.

 

just got done cleaning my beretta .40, my marlin .30/.30, and my rem 7400 .270. from all the shooting we did at the range yesterday. i just noticed on my .270 that i'll have to get a new base for my scope rings.....the ironsighter rings are one piece.....they are a complete mount.

oh well.....once i get the tru glo scope and new rings and base......i think its gonna be a pretty sweet setup then. i kinda like the bdc reticle in the truglo scope too...........though i probably wont use it too much since most places i hunt round here are on under 100 yards. when i take the bushnell banner off .270.........im taking the old scope off the marlin and putting the banner on it. the marlin has a tasco bucksight on it now....but that scope dont really cut it no more.
