Lots of people thought so to drive the yield down that much.

I missed the charts . IMO most trading today is based off of keywords programed into algorithms for hot topics in the news and moving averages and such from charts . It is the way it is . Long term it means nothing for buy and hold investors. For others it is when things go up and down short and medium term .

It may scare people who don’t know that into selling at losses. That part is not cool. I agree though, no affect to long term investors.

    First result on Google:
"The 10-year Treasury note rate is the yield or rate of return on your investment."

in essence: When the gubment needs to get money to work with, they give out a "bond". You give them $100 bucks, they say "okay, we get to use this 100$ however we see fit, for 10 years. At the end, we'll give you the 100$ plus a little bit on top for your hassle. Thank you!" This has been a very safe form of investment. They're not as profitable as stocks/ETFs/Index funds, but then....see like right now, where things are going kablooie, bonds are still at ~2% (or whatever the terms were when the bond was generated). So, when you're young and virile and can take a risk on your retirement going kablooie for the time being, you do a roughly 90/10 or 95/5 etc stocks to bonds ratio. When you get to, let's say 45 - you're still young but man...your back aches a bit in the morning and it takes you a minute to get going now. You're closer to retirement and if your whole retirement goes kaput tomorrow, that's not good! So you're closer to a 70/30. You hit 60. 60! It's close....you could do it any day now! So now, you want to be safe - you want to know your retirement is all safe and good for you to retire with. You switch to a 10/90 swing instead, 90% of your investment is only giving you a 2-3% return, but it won't give you a negative return, it won't be volatile, you can rest easy on your cruise since you've done the hard work and taken the bumps and swings for the past 50 years in the workforce. You might miss out on the big payday if the market tanks, and you don't move to stocks for the upswing, but hey - you've planned for 50 years to be able to retire and work with what you've socked away, don't mess with that now, it's not worth the risk!

BUT Today (well, yesterday) the government gives an outlook. They say "You know hhhhhwhhhaaaat......You give me 100$ today, in 10 years I can give you only 15% less than if you had done it yesterday based on the current data that was just released and my outlook on things...Just from today."

fcua was up a few percent for me I think F was up more than a tenth. Everything else I’m on is basically steady.

I honestly wouldn't buy any stocks with that time horizon. The whole market could be 50% less in 2 months, or could be higher. I don't think certain names would be exempt from a crash.
