Has anyone had any issues with buying a knockoff TRD Pro grill and garnish sensor cover for their 2018 Tacoma? Are there any issues with the Pre-Collision System? The price difference for buying a genuine one is quite large and I just want to make sure a knock off one will be fine. The install seems easy enough from Youtube videos I've seen.

There are tons of posts on this. Get ready for sarcastic answers.

Summary is that some people swear no problems, others swear they had problems.

I have one on my 2017 it works Awesome for me. the fit and finish were good was not going to spend 400 for the real thing If my truck had Pre-Collision System I would have considered the real one

a few people have issues, but i'd say that 99.99999% of people have absolutely no issues whatsoever.

One piece of advice, look closely at the pictures of the grill. The garnish will not fit in all of the aftermarket ones.... ask me how I know.... :anonymous:

I picked up one from a vendor on TW (freshmexicantaco I think?). Garnish came installed. Easy install grill and no complaints about the purchase. Had a couple issues before the sensor recall. My dealer didn't complain about doing the sensor replacement for the recall (apparently mine had the more serious codes? So they replaced the sensor instead of just installing tape?). The dealer told me they had turned something off in the settings because of the aftermarket grill then walked me out and showed me how to turn in back on if I wanted.

Since then all systems have worked as expected. I'd do it again. I'd probably check to make sure your recall for the sensor has been completed before installing. I heard not all dealers were as chill.

Edit: 2018 ordclb involved in seemingly every recall or service advisory campaign.
