    We had an international incident in Bosnia (I was the C4I integration guy for the tactical air control group). A 2-man Canadian TACP (tactical air control party) from Quebec was guiding 20 practice sorties into an area to target a red Opel (actual German-built Chevy Chevette - a no-shit Chevette) sitting in the middle of a field. American vipers (F-16s), German and British tornadoes, Spanish F-18s, and French Mirages. Everyone was able to find and shack the Opel except the French. They tried 4 times - couldn’t find it. Before they egressed the air space they cursed out the Canadians. In French, even though the standard NATO war language is English.

    Did I mention that those guys were Québécois?

    We heard the whole thing go down in our control van. Our French liaison blanched and whispered “merde.” He told us what happened and we all laughed.

    ”Then those guys are busted because that was the Canadian team.” They complained all right, and word got AROUND. The French were unpopular before - they dropped to downright despised after that. Everyone liked the Canuckistanis.

    “Oh. Merde.”

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    This is the same Frenchman who proclaimed that “the French are dicks. When I retire I am moving back to New Mexico.”

    It's crazy! My wife has been working like crazy doing analysis on what ground equipment to move where to support the long term storage efforts of the airline she works for. The ammounts of planes being parked and where is nuts. I think you will see a lot of fleet types at some of the majors never fly again. Fingers crossed this at least kills the erj135, 145 series jungle jet. Goddamn that plane was such a PITA when I was running the ground equipment specification team at my old job.

    I have never seen my mother work so much. She’s constantly bouncing between the computer, iPad, and cell phone trying to develop new policies and procedures to keep the airline operational. Pretty impressive what everybody can do from home

    It was likely a case of Keep up with traffic or get off the road! This video doesnt show anyone stopping to check on the pilot or passengers.

    SWA is in a decent position, but every airline is vulnerable to disaster the longer this goes on. There are a lot of people losing their jobs and businesses around America and I count myself blessed (at the moment) to be at a place like SWA. I’m currently taking close to 3 months off and I’ll be on partial pay the whole time. The chief pilots have taken care of me since my wife is due with our 2nd (this week!) in this crisis. Most of our pilots are still working, while some are on a voluntary leave program like myself.
    The big test for all airlines will be after October 1st. The CARES Act ends and if the economy doesn’t pick up airlines will become smaller. I try not to stress about it since I have enough on my plate at the moment.
    The hardest part so far is that this is the longest I haven’t flown a plane since I was in college! It’s tough!!

    I got to work today! Quick up and back to Memphis. Was on the ground just long enough to load a cooler with BBQ and then come on back.

    Hope the hell you guys like helicopters. I was in a Air Cav Unit from the 80's to mid 90's.

    Good ol Ft. Hood maybe 1990 or so.
