Anyone else having an auto trans over heating problem? I have had my warning light come on a couple of times have to stop and let trans cool. This is happening without any extreme use. The fluid level is good. Is there a cure available for this problem such as a trans cooler?

Sounds like the filter is clogged. Probably a good idea to drop the pan and clean the filter
Screen and add new tranny fluid.

Yeh about the trans filter, I mentioned that I wanted my trans filter changed last year when I had some work done and fluids changed at the local toyota dealership in town, he told me that there wasn't a filter in the trans so I eliminated that possibility. He mentioned a screen and said there was no need to pull the pan. I am taking it in there again tommorrow to get the timing belt and water pump changed I will have to quiz him again about a filter.
I also have a electric rear diff lock in my truck that I have had trouble with, it has been fixed twice now since I have had the truck, I bought it 2 years ago do you have any experience in these locker systems? I priced out a new one and they said they were over a grand to replace. The trouble I am having is that it doesn't want to engage, some won told me to tap the unit with a hammer lightly because it was probably just not making contact inside the motor, I tried that but didn't help.
Nice truck thanks for the help Gord

The filter in the tranny is basically a filter screen type deal....almost like a normal tranny filter with a screen inside. You can clean it out with brake cleaner and clean the magnet on the pan as well. And I know a bit about the locker.........sounds like the actuator on the locker diff could be bad....or the switch is going out.
