Switching to synthetic at 160k miles?

    M1 HM is an outstanding oil. It's on the thicker side of the 5/30 spectrum and has robust detergents and conditioners.

    I don't usually tout specific brands or formulas as I understand that most modern oils are excellent. But this is a good one. As my Taco passes 100k I'll be evaluating whether to switch. At some point I will.

    Don't be surprised if it turns black very quickly. This is just a result of it's heavy detergent pack. It does not effect it's performance and is of no concern.

    Another favorite on Bobistheoilguy site is Valvoline Maxlife. Both VML and M1 HM are well thought of over there.

    My daughter's 10 year old Yaris lives on M1 HM. Not a seep, a weep or a hint of blue smoke or burning.
