Hey guys, newbie on this forum but I do have a stupid amount of vehicle mechanics and electronics experience and certifications (not bragging).

I just picked up my 2020 TOR after ditching one of my newer Volvo's due to the need of a truck. Already did some upgrades the first week by installing an amp+sub, replacing all speakers, and ditching the ugly OEM wheels.

Upon digging behind the radio with my DMM for the obvious needs of reverse camera anytime and playlist blackout bypass I found NOTHING in the connectors or wires that matches up to the 2019 and later models. Connectors and wires do not match but here is what I found:

    1) I found the camera wire that requires 12v via a switch to enable the reverse camera but you MUST have a diode or SPDT switch as in 2019 and older. If you dont do this you set a crap ton of dash lights and DTC's (dont ask me how I know). I will update with pics once I get 12v diodes in the mail.

    2) I found the VSS wire on the back of the radio but I assume if I try to cut or bypass it to enable iphone playlist bypass I will lose the fuel economy display on the radio.... correct me if I am wrong(?).

    Pics coming!

12 in sub for actual bass
Looking great. You have the non jbl? Still waiting for someone to figure out how to add a sub properly to a jbl setup. Currently tapped into factory sub -> loc -> aftermarket amp -> aftermarket sub. Doesn’t work to well though. Bass is a tiny bit delayed. Stock sub sucks ass. Turn bass up on head unit and doors rattle.....

Cutting VSS will not effect fuel display on 2019. But is will effect the GPS resolution. (Ie how often and how accurate gps navigation updates). This is 2019 and below, not sure on 2020.
Also since you’re certified you should already know a diode is NOT designed for this application (blocking signal indefinitely ) and will eventually fail. So if you run with reverse camera override for long periods of time, expect to be replacing that diode.
BTW, This reverse signal will also effect GPS resolution on 2019 and below.

Have YOU verified the amps on the reverse signal?

As I said originally, the 2020 is nothing like the 2019's concerning the radio wiring. I have read everything on here and bought a bypass harness that does not match at all.

I do not have nav as I find it useless in vehicles with google maps/iphones. I will try a bypass switch on the VSS this week and see what happens. I assumed it was primarily for real time fuel consumption calculations displayed on the radio and secondary purpose was killing playlist selection.

Who uses their reverse camera override long enough to cause a 15watt diode to fail? You have to be driving with it on for hours to even consider such a failure AND failure is usually a result in a surge of current or voltage in a particular direction through the diode. Personally, I do not entertain such ridiculous thoughts since I specifically use the override for 3-5 seconds while pulling into my garage to ensure I am forward enough.

A 15watt diode is the forward current rating, not the PIV or VBR rating which is what you’re interested in, but I’m sure you already know that. To answer your question, obviously many people drive with it on for long periods of time looking at diode failure posts on this forum. I had no idea of your intended use which is why I stated long periods of time.

Sounds like you made assumptions especially since you didn't read or comprehend my OP about 2020 differing from 2019 yet you still commented about 2019.

Rather than assuming usage and debating diode failure, I would appreciate assistance if anybody knows if the VSS affects the MPG calculations in the radio display. I guess I will find out the hard way.

In an attempt to get access to the locked out audio and navigation features, album artwork and navigation, I tried cutting pin 27 on the grey connector on my 2021 Automatic SR5, and it didn't grant access to any of the things I was looking for.

Can anyone with the Anytime Backup Camera in a 2020+ see if that system enables the audio features and album artwork with their "nav anytime" add-on wiring?

Gray is 28, the REVERSE input. I think you want the SPEED input, violet.

Pin 27 is violet on the gray connector shell (as opposed to the white or black connectors).

I did not cut the grey wire. I cut the violet wire in the grey connector.
