I have tried different anti corrosion sprays on my trucks and they all have worked but they also caused my trucks to smell like Chemical Factories. I bought some new stuff the other day which is 3M Cavity Wax and sprayed the Frame down, drove it an hour later and no smell at all.

Just Fluid filmed my 2016. Do it every year. Funny Toyota just extended my frame rot warranty to 12 years

I’ve been driving Tacoma’s for decades. Sadly they all seem to suffer from frame rust issues. My 2016 had rust showing within 6 months mainly at the welds. Toyota seems to stand behind the problem eventually with frame replacements and such. But I prevent the problem from growing with routine maintenance and touch up. Wire brush the loose stuff. Spray with a rust prep spray. Then I use the flat rustolium 2x. It’s for all materials including metal. And it has the primer built in. The flat matches the factory paint perfectly and it seems to hold up better than the just plain rustolium. Whenever I have it up I. The lift for maintenance I touch up any rust spots I can see. Seems to help them last.

Will Ziebart Undercoating and rust prevention helps? I am on fence for my '20 Tacoma TRD Sport.

When the truck was new I wire brushed the surface rust on the welds of the frames and suspension and then followed up with rattle can Rustoleum. I also painted the steel milled parts (e.g. front steering components, driveshaft u-joint hubs, differentials, etc...). Then sprayed Rust Check everywhere to include inside the doors, hood, tailgate, inside the boxed frame sections, rocker panels, etc... No corrosion has returned or developed.

You search the mod-list, but don't find anything of interest.
Just curious... anything under that jack stand, or is it being sacrificed to the dirt?

Looked like there was something, just wanted to make sure. Never know the level of technical involvement some people cant handle and wanted to make sure it was being done safely. :notsure:

Not sure if there's another or better thread about 3rd gen rust but just notived this rust coming from in between the cab and bed on both sides, def looks like a manufacturing issue as the trucks not even 1 year old yet and doesn't see salty roads, nor does this rusty area between the cab and bed see any road debris.... anyone else see this issue and have luck with a dealer fully correcting it??

Damn! Hate to see this on a new vehicle. Can you please keep us informed as to what the dealership says and does? Could it possibly be a color specific issue? Sorry this happened but thank you for posting.

Luck would have it that I just noticed this and Im due for a toyota-care service, so I'll report back what they say in the next week or so. Really don't want to deal with cramming tools in there to grind it down and repaint since its in a hard to reach spot sandwiched between the cab/bed.. nonetheless shouldn't even be needed on a truck thats 11 months old.

If you do a search on this site you’ll see other reporting on this issue. It appears white trucks are more predisposed to surface corrosion on top of the paint for some reason.
