drove the taco all last week in the mountains around 3000 ft elevation. i decided about half way through to NOT use the ECT power on. The taco actually did quite well and i didn't really see any issues and the hills where i needed sport mode/1-4, i needed it with the ECT on as well.

so, just putting in drive and going seemed to be just fine in the hilly twisities except when going up the really steep hills where i merely slammed into S mode and let it do it's thing. MPGs seem to increase a hair to maybe .5 mpg but who knows.

so going forward, i will be jsut hitting the pedal harder. this past week was really the first time i have driven the truck full time- i usually just drive here around town and one or two weekends a month....

I use it when I think about it. Just remember the ECT button does nothing for your power, just adjusts the shift points so it does not gear hunt as much

exactly. it holds a gear longer. on the steeper hills if i had it off, it might shift to 4th only to have to downshift back to 3rd 5 seconds later. In those cases, i used ect....
