Rarely use the porta band either. Have an Ellis 1600 bandsaw that swivels and stands up at work and home. The one at home rarely gets used.

Well I dorked up and welded the safety chain bracket on top of the hitch vice the bottom. I just wasn’t paying attention. Aside from looking silly, any reason why I should go through the effort of cutting it off and welding a new one on? I hope not because man that sucker is welded on there good.

If it bothers you fix it now. Don’t regret not doing it later. It won’t matter either way

Then that thing is staying put. My goodness that would take awhile to fix. Thanks for the input.

Just enough to look kinda cool.
You can use it as a step if you are ever needing to crawl into the back of your truck.

Edit: or that I did it to be super ultra high clearance

honestly to me it looks good and (hypothetically) if something were to fail, I feel like it’s much stronger the way you have it since the hitch is underneath it and acts as a ledger for it

That’s a good point, not all the force is on the welds.

    Thanks everyone, she’s staying put.

Yeah I 100% would NOT go through the hassle of changing it. That this is glued on there forever!

You ain’t lying. It would probably take me an hour and a half to get that all cut off and cleaned up, and a new one welded on. There’s a lot of weld on there.

Any chance of the tailgate making contact with it while it’s open..? Or will it be in the way of the plating you were talking about doing to close the gap between the bed and bumper.?

No, and no, it doesn’t sit any higher than the top of the main tube. Good questions though.

For some reason I immediately thought of this. Thanks brother! I appreciate the kind words. I’m definitely going to act like I did this on purpose.

Yeah, that looks like a whole cutting wheel to me. Right down to the arbor...lmao.
I've done that enough times....well, I'll probably do it again. Lol

Okay, so that thing is just awesome. I'm getting ready to crawl, drag myself into the same "why I did this" movie. I have to finish the camper shell first. I'm thinking 16ga? What is the steel specs you used, .125?
    Looks fantastic man.
