Odd thing, not sure if it’s just my truck, but the average MPG will not reset when pushing the reset (R/H side, center steering wheel button). I had a 2017 4runner before this, and the same protocol worked whether I was driving or stopped. The Tacoma manual has the same instructions as the 4runner, I’ve tried it while driving and stopped, but it will not reset?

It’s not the end of the world, but because I’m using the remote start feature in the winter, the average MPG is like 13 :rofl:and it’ shows my distance til empty as ridiculously low compared to what the actual measured MPG is? Just wondering if anyone else has had the problem and if a software reboot helped?

At this point it’s more of a curiosity than anything else, at worst I’ll ask when i go in for my first service (I’m only at 1500 miles:bananadance:)

After holding the button...push down arrow the “reset” will highlight then hit center button again.

“Arrow” as in the return button?

amazing that something that was so simple added extra steps?

That button resets the trip meter in the Odometer, not the mileage in the display screen.

My MPG button works fine (my New Year’s resolution was being lazy apparently)

Below is the procedure I've been following, which was the same in my 4runner. The center button works for everything else, just the hold to reset is not?

Press and hold center button to reset, if item can be reset the box will be checked, press center button again to remove the check mark, hit down arrow to highlight reset, then hit center button again...it should reset to zero. I have a 17’ and works every time. If the box is checked it won’t reset. See photos for clarity.

Thanks for the pics. The 2020 is a little different, but seeing the pics did make me go back and take a good hard look at what I was seeing. Turns out I can set mine up to automatically reset for each tank, or just run an average until reset. I had it set to reset after each new tank of gas, which doesn't allow you to reset manually. In the end, I was just being a dope and overthinking the problem:facepalm::laugh:

Now I've done some stuff to my truck.
Hmm, mine doesn't have this "Hold for reset" button
