I'm visiting relatives on the west side of the Sierra Nevada foothills so i decided to check some trails out. I recently purchased Gaia to use on my Ipad and although I'm still getting used to it, I really enjoyed using it. I was able to keep my stock tacoma OR in 2wd for 90% of the trail thanks to my K02's. The first time i turned around was due to a threatening sign which is pictured below. I also turned around twice due to one rutted out incline and one rutted out descent. I'm damn near positive my taco would have handled them just fine however I was running solo, equipped with just a shovel for recovery. Turning around did cause me to have to take a few switchbacks in reverse which was not ideal. I rarely off road completely alone and i must say that it is not that enjoyable.

Where abouts is that? I'd like to run my prerunner up thru there.

Engineer pass, Black Bear pass, and Imogene pass. All in the same trip. That's my buddies Jeep who was helping me spot along the way. Could not have done 2 of those trails without him spotting my line.

Skid plates are truck savers fellas

Shining Rock area off of the Blue Ridge Pkwy if you’re familiar. It’s around mile marker 420 at the end of Black Balsam Rd. The paved road ends and then there is a gate that they open from September to January 1st. The trail is maybe a few miles and goes into Ivestor Gap with awesome views and camping.

Nice pic and seems like a really cool little trip! I'm looking forward to driving mine on both snow and the beach, though it's not looking too promising for this year...

I was part of a wedding that involved a week on the sand near Corova, NC. Having spent a ton of time out there, I didn't think much about it. Half of the bridal party was from NY and freaking out about driving on the sand. I said "drop your tire pressure a bit, otherwise its like driving in snow... except your brakes work." Not-a-one got stuck, not the newer body escape, not the hyundai santa fe, no one. I was proud. (Though I claim the Carolinas, I'm originally from western Mass, so I was hoping they wouldn't embarass me.)

Yea man. I have a ton more pictures from that trip. It was probably the most epic trip I've ever been on, and I won't soon forget it! When this quarantine lifts, we all need to get back out there and explore some more.
