To follow up to my issues. After contacting Switch-Pros and some over the phone troubleshooting the problem with the Bluetooth remained. Laura and the staff at Switch-Pros were just as great to deal with 2nd time around, as I contacted them directly for my original purchase.

They felt that it might be the Bluetooth transmitter and it’s a rare failure point, they said usually if they fail it’s initially not 2 years later. Either way Laura offered to send me and new 9100 after I paid full purchase price and then I will ship back my 8100 and she will refund me a generous portion of my purchase after they receive my old one.

End result the new one is in and working great! It’s always great dealing with companies that make great products and stand behind them with 2nd to none customer service. Thanks again to the guys over at switch pros!

Wondering if changing out that tap fixed your issues? I actually just started having the same issue over the past month. My switches will not illuminate or work and then on occasion will start up again and work normally. I’ll go check my tap and maybe switch it out but wanted to see if there was something else you had to do.

It worked normally for a little bit but then continued having the same issue. I am still at a loss for what is causing it.

So after swapping everything in my setup to direct power, direct ground, etc nothing worked. Got a hold of Switchpro this morning and they said to send it to them for their testing regimen. Of course thats what they asked me to do last spring as it warmed up and started working again, but I procrastinated. Now I get to do it after the warranty expired last month. The price I pay for lollygagging. Best case, I may get a discount on a 9100.

Edit: I just bought a 9100. The potential for a discount didnt match my impatience on waiting / findings dispute. Its such an intermittent / random problem, that they'd prob have it working fine.

thanks for the update. Been emailing them back and forth and they’re just saying I need to check the blue wire. Guess I’ll check it a 5th time and then see what happens from there. Might be a 9100 in my future too

I had their engineer Robert on speed dial for a time. I believe this issue stumped all of them.

One thing they asked me is if I could use the app to connect when my panel wasn’t working. For me my app didn’t connect and therefore they said it’s the power to the panel that’s the issue (blue wire). Seems odd to me that it’s so intermittent but it’s getting super annoying.

Hey @Gunshot-6A I'm wondering if you have any info about the voltage regulation the switch pros uses? Seeing a strange behavior I don't think is coming from the truck.

So, at rest the battery reads 12.6V across the terminals with a multimeter. Perfectly fine.
I set up a voltage gauge on one of the switch pro circuits and establish that the gauge reads a little bit low and there is a little bit of voltage drop from the 8100 itself.
I have the voltage gauge's circuit set to "memory" so it turns on when the key gets turned to the run position.
Key on, truck not running: 12.3 volts with lights off, 12.1 with lights on. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Turn key, voltage kicks down to 11 something while the starter is engaged. Again, all perfectly normal up to this point.
After the start though, here's where it gets strange:
the voltage springs back up, but only to about 12.4/12.5ish volts. It stays there for maybe 10 seconds before springing up to the 13/14V you would expect from a running truck.

I'm guessing it's some kind of over voltage protection or a function of the overall regulation?
Really what I need is 2 gauges, one on the switch pro and one directly to the battery but I don't wanna totally rat's nest the car up for just some troubleshooting.

Thats curious. I don't really have any knowledge on that front since that wasn't an issue I was concerned about. The only thing I could think of is that lower step is while the alternator charges the battery back to starting condition before going back to the "float" stage. Would sorta make sense as the battery's open capacity would absorb some of the input until it replenished.

I finally caught my switch pro giving the intermittent issue I was suspecting, which was the reason I was messing with the voltage gauge in the first place.

At startup the circuit is live, 12V, but then at some point it goes dead, 0V. Nothing. The circuit’s indicator light is still on, but the switch pro isn’t providing voltage. Cycle the power by pressing the button twice and it comes back. No apparent fix.

It’s a shame I can’t trust this unit to run essential hardwire electrics now...

How has this method held up for the blue and yellow wire?

Also, In regards to the yellow wire - You mentioned "Note: if you put your high beams on it goes back to day time running witch not a big deal to me." - Does this mean that when I flick the high beams on, the switchpros panel lighting turns on?

did you end up hard wiring it in? If so - do you have pictures of what you did? same location?

    Thanks

Over $500 for a switch is already :jerkoff:. Add that there is a thread where people are having issues with it and I gotta say :brianr: to them. I will stick with a nice old fashioned switches that are not priced like a corvette mod.

it’s held up fine I have had no issues. What you stated is correct when you switch between low to high beams you will go from night time dimming to daylight. which to me isn't that noticeable where I have my switch pro. If I had it on the ceiling in the sunglass cubby I would probably wire it a different way so it’s not in your face.

    Few questions:

Does the lighting dim up and down with the dimming wheel as well?

Do the switchpro accessories only turn on when the truck is either on or keyed over to "acc"? or is it always hot?
