Am I being cheap for $1500 installation quote?

I went to a local off-road shop in Virginia, Independent 4x, and they quoted me $1500 to install the following:

- Full OME kit (coils, front and rear shocks, Dakar leaf pack)
- SPC upper control arms
- ECGS clamshell bushing (this would take 4.5 hours to install)

I saw a sign on their wall that said "labor rate - $110 per hour". Is $1500 reasonable or just absurd?

I thought it was ridiculous but wondering if I'm overreacting now.

 

Sounds pretty expensive to me but I’ve never taken mine to a shop. You are in Richmond perhaps some local members could help you out

 

Yea, kinda seems a little high to me too. I would've guessed a shop would charge 1k for that.

 

That’s outrageous. i asked a shop how much (just curious) and to install my 5100’s aal and upper control arms and they quoted me 4-500.
1500 is cray

 

Pretty standard for Canada but the dollar difference makes that a pretty steep price tag. Like the 2nd poster said - you should find someone local who'll help for some pizza and beer.

Yeah that's ridiculous. That job at any reput shop should be 750-900 max

 

Man I don’t know how you guys spend that on install. I think I just got lucky in finding my guy who works out of his garage.

My upcoming king on 4 corners, Dakar and extended fuel line is running me 400.

 

I don't think anyone is spending it that much for what I wanted done. When shop told me $1500, I walked out.

 

I think $400 is fair. Of course, I don’t have shop overhead or stuff like that to contend with just my own garage. Unfortunately, no lift to use but multiple installs have made experience to make up for it.

 

My son and I did his 2nd Gen and His girlfriend and I did My 3rd gen the following weekend. Following the directions and reading this forum prior, it was easy. The thing that took the longest was getting a few rusted bolts off the 2nd gen. Had they come off easily, we would have done both in one weekend. A PIA few bolts took longer than the whole 3rd gen.. Then paid ********* to do the ECGS Clamshell. He was awesome and was helpful with our dumb questions during the install. Half the fun of these mods is doing it yourself and meeting great people along the way to help and talk with!!! Especially with nice folks on here willing to help.

What's the shop called. I'm in Maryland and will be looking at getting my suspension done. I don't mind traveling to get it done right.
