Last week I filled my tank on my 2015 Tacoma Double Cab Limited with 67,000 miles. Started it this morning only to find my fuel guage reads empty and the low fuel light stays on. Checked for the obvious, no signs of leaking gas and the tank is indeed full. Checking various threads on the forum it appears it might either be a fuel sending unit or level sensor assembly. Could it be anything else? Anyone else have a similar issue? Are the sending unit and the level sensor both located within the fuel tank? Thank you in advance for any guidance.

These are the same thing "fuel sending unit or level sensor assembly".

The ID2 Connection is in the drivers side kick panel. The float could be stuck. Maybe give the fuel tank a rap or two with a rubber mallet could free it up.

Try tapping with your knuckle on the instrument cluster directly in front of the gauge.......
Note your mileage, drive about 200 miles then refill the tank with the pump as fast as it will dispense.....
I had the opposite problem, my 2013 6 cyl got stuck on full. Drove about 3 gallons out, refilled tank, no change.....then set the trip set and after about 200 miles refilled and it all started working again.
Park truck headed uphill, then try down hill, run some fuel additive thru it.....try all kinds of things before you work with tank internal parts.......I liked the rubber mallet idea.....good luck
