Yes but it's still an extra $100~ or so if I remember correctly. As someone with sporadic schedule I like having the flexibility for deer

I know a guy who got a Big Horn in Wa, was a 600 yard shot. I think we're out of our skill set here

Thats a pretty common shot distance on those once in a lifetime big horn tags. Drawing a tag is one thing, having a long distance rifle setup you trust and have practiced with, a guide, and the physical fitness to hike that straight up and down rock country is the part most don't consider.

yep, and time, if i was lucky enough to draw either a moose or bighorn tag here I’d probably quit my job and dedicated at least a month to scouting....or max out a credit card and hire someone to do it for me

From what I understand finding a moose is pretty easy. Something like a 99% success rate. I've thought about putting in for points in Maine as it's the cheapest and easiest to get in a state that isn't Alaska

My uncle keeps telling me to come up to B.C. he said he would by my guide. For real and on paper. Not sure how it all works or what it would cost. They are pretty successful with moose and caribou though.

Yep! Lots of moose up north. Unfortunately I'm not allowed in Canada or I'd love to go to Alberta and get a big ol bull

I saw 5 different moose on opening day of rifle near Tonasket, and saw a few more over the next few days also. They're almost getting thicker than deer in that area.

I see them in North Idaho all the time. A few years ago while deer hunting there I saw a cow and calf and she had a radio collar on. Should have taken a pic. I know a guy up there that drew a bull tag and got it done. After losing his leg... he did it on one leg. He's kind of a damaged Vietnam vet. OK not kind of.

I had a Public Safety Cougar Removal Permit for my hounds in North GMU 124 I saw 7 moose in one day plus got my Cougar. Probably the best hunting trip of my life. It was mid December and everything was pushed down low. I left here at 11:00 pm on a Friday night got the cat and was back home by Midnight Saturday night. I drug a snowmobile trailer with two sleds behind my 96’. I think I got like 9 smiles to the gallon. I think I stopped like 5 times to fill up. My buddy that followed me over in his 5.9 Dodge was laughing his ass off every time I called over the radio that I needed to stop for gas again.

ok I did something really stupid.

Can anyone recommend a bow press that won't break the bank? I may as well learn all this. I have a neighbor that bow hunts and I might walk up there tonight and ask him.

Last Chance Archery EZ Press. It's the cheapest option that you can do 99% of bows with. I have one. If you need to fix something you're welcome to come over

thanks man. got my first bow delivered and pulled it out of the box and didn't read anything. Immediately dry fired it and string popped off. Then I see a sticker right there saying do not do that. What is wrong with me? really, I could be practicing right now.

I'm seeing that putting the string back on is easy but then you need to do the cam timing.

much different than the 20lb compound bow for kids that I had in 1985.

Uh yeah, so lesson to be learned here. Don't ever pull back the string for any reason without an arrow nocked. Are you in the Seattle area? I'd be happy to look it over/fix it. Cams may or may not need timing. Depends. What bow is it?
