tacoma clutch replacement

    I'm planning on replacing the clutch on my tacoma pretty soon. I have all of the parts including the parts I need to stop the bearing squeak that is happening to my truck. One of my friends has a 4 post lift but were not sure if it works so if it doesn't work we will do it on the floor with a jack. Is there anyone that has done this before and has any helpfull hints/recommendations for me?

    I just did mine. I highly recommend the Clutch Masters hydraulic TOB if you can afford it.
    Things that help:
    -Battery powered impact gun
    -Lots of extensions. You need to sit at the back of the tranny and extend a 17mm socket the length of it to get at the top two bell housing bolts.

    -a creeper helps tons

    PM me with any questions you might have. It's an easy job, just time consuming.

    EDIT: a lift would be amazing to have, I dont own one so I used jack stands and drive up stands. Got the job done. Just had to shimmy the tranny around on the motorcycle jack I used to get it out from under the truck.

    I've R&R the 5 speed. One issue I had was getting the truck high enough for the transmission to fit under the frame rails for removal. It was easy to get it high enough, but then my floor jack wouldn't reach the transmission. So I had to pull the transmission and then raise the truck a few more inches so I could remove the transmission from under the truck. I've since bought another long floor jack that raises much higher.
    Get an air or battery impact, impact swivel sockets, and a 3 foot extension for the top bolts as said.

    We used to call working on a vehicle on your back "ground hogging". It can be done much more fun with a lift.

    Personally I’d split the transfer case from the tranny, makes it easier to handle. Hopefully the lift works.
