I've been waiting for my new Sport since the end of January and finally got a VIN last week.
I've heard these models are still made in Texas but when I enter the VIN on the Toyota web site it states the build location as Guanajuato, Mexico.
Bummer. I've been looking forward to being able to say my truck was made in the USA.

That seems to be the new location for MT and Access Cabs, they had to make the shift sooner or later since production is leaving Texas.

These trucks like many vehicles are made from parts outsourced all over the world. Texas or Mexico are just the assembly point for all those parts. Could just as well be Hog Crotch, Kansas or Deep Holler, West Virginia. Assembled in the USA, maybe. Made in the USA, very rare these days.

If we're picking factory locations, gimme Intercourse, PA all day long. Pickup your Taco at Intercourse. Works for me!

I do want to avoid Blue Ball, PA though.

It's Blue Ball, PA. I should know, I went there in the summertime in the 60's during my childhood. It's a stones throw from East Earl, PA and the farm that I eventually stayed/worked at thanks to the Fresh Air Fund. :hattip:

I wouldn’t want anything made in blue balls. They sound like they would be cranky. A cranky employee is a bad employee.

Doesn’t really matter where your truck was built.

I mean, have you had REALLY GOOD Mexican food?

If you’re goal is to have a completely American truck, why buy from a Japanese car manufacturer?

Because this truck is only Japanese in name. The trucks are designed in the US and were built here first and the largest customers of these trucks are Americans.
