    I am assuming the part in bold applies to new OVTune customers that do not already have the tune kit with or w/o dongle

    Sorry if this has been asked, but just to clarify, when this is available for purchase we will also need to purchase the correct Tactrix Openport 2.0 cable correct?

    No other cable will work right?

    Is there another source besides the manufacturer or someone have a current working link for one? I would like to go ahead and purchase due to extremely slow shipping lately.

    This is a good thread because the other one really didn't say much. But, as a newby, I still can't find the advantages that can be programmed with this turner. More power? Better mileage? Race car sound?

    Thanks for any information.

    I think most people would say 'better driveability'. Rpms and gears are more like they should be, less gear hunting, dropping to 5th instead of 6th to 4th type scenarios. But it feels like a bit more power and a bit better mpg to me.

    @Rafael@OVTune @OVTune
    I know some guys are running AGM batteries, will there be an adjustment for the alternator output available through VFtuner? Thanks

    Is the current output not enough for an AGM? Many people run them

    Nope... It's supposed to be higher to get the right charge. The 2nd gen had a thing you plug into a fuse, but the 3rd gen is controlled by the computer, which doesn't adjust to the AGM.

    but it isn't going to hurt it correct? It is basically just applying less charge...similarly to a trickle charger?

    It will cause a shorter lifespan. Inadequate charge voltage causes the battery to sulfate over time, in turn decreasing life of the battery. The 3rd gen charges at roughly 13.4vdc where as an AGM battery specs 14.4-14.6vdc charge.

    I keep my battery on a trickle charger any time I am not driving. Is there any other way to fix it? @OVTune This would be an awesome feature

    Alternator control can be modified. That's my department (Mat) as I am in charge of disassembly work for the tacoma

    This is something all us 3rd gen owners will need to know for AGM batteries!

    If you could implement the alternator control to operate at 14.8V you would save me so much headache of having to charge my AGM batteries every month. Currently the alternator runs at 13.9V and it barely keeps them charged around 70-80%

    Ignorance is bliss. I've had an AGM for a couple years. Doing way better than the OEM battery but now I have questions lol.

    I wonder if there is control over other things like the fog lights. I know why they function the way they do (inoperable with brights) but found the OEM bulbs useless and swapped them for baja designs. It would be cool to use the with the brights and have all of the light!

    Also just ordered the VF software so I can go down that rabbit hole once I finish building my trailer. Keeping occupied during quarantine...
