My two cents is sell to whoever you want.

A few years ago I was selling a Specialized Hardrock mtb for $80 on craigslist. I could've easily asked for more but I wanted to sell it quick. I had a bunch of emails and sob stories but went with the first come first served. The guy I met up with was asking for a better deal and telling me his bike had got stolen and he was having to walk to work and didn't have a car etc.... I asked about the ranger he was driving and he said it was his mom's. I sold it for $45 and saw it posted later that night for $120 obo. I sent him an email on CL and offered $50. He replied back not knowing who I was and said he'd be losing money. I said MF I know what you paid. I sold it to you.

About a year later I was selling another mtb and went to meet the person that replied first at a gas station. As I was pulling in I see the same guy that I let lowball me on the hardrock. I told him I wasn't selling it to him and he said I'll pay your asking price. I told him too bad. I wasn't going to sell it to him. He was first to reply both times but he's a bike flipper so he probably spends lots of time online looking for deals.

You pretend like you’re gonna cut the tires in half...and the person who is all like “no nooooo just give it to the other guy I don’t want you to cut up mah babies” is the one you should truly give them to.

what will be really interesting is Thunderdome with social distancing

you're going to have to get longer chainsaws

I would say first offer. Nothing is more aggravating than someone who changes a deal or passes you over because of someone else's bullshit.

A member here was selling an item I was in the market for so I sent him an offer that he initially accepted. While we were figuring out shipping costs he received some other interest and stopped replying to me. A little while later he replied to tell me that the price had changed because he could get full price from someone else. I talked him into splitting the difference and decided to pay the extra even though he had already agreed to a lower price. It was still a deal for me compared to new so it worked out. That's just not a good way to conduct business IMO

Do whatever u can live with. Never know who's lying and who isn't. If u need the money sell em first come first serve. If u don't, take a chance on the old dude. If he bails just try again. It's easy really.

Wow that so disappointing to hear. Good on you for giving the guy a chance for first time.
After hearing everyone talk about rampant sob stories, and now your situation, im thinking this guy is probably trying to flip the tires. His account shows he has a lot of purchases and sales on OfferUp.

Y’all have swayed me to go first come first served. I’m a sucker for emotional stuff, hobo’s begging ect...

    Also i’d like to say
You guys are awesome. I’ve been a member since September and i cant believe the amout of thoughtful responses and help/knowledge the community members have offered myself and others.

Even though we may disagree and bust balls a lot, yall are awesome and i gotta say i love this forum.

First come first served. I won’t even hold anything for local pick ups unless I know you. I don’t care if you can come at 5, if someone shows up at 3, it’s theirs.
