    Hi all!

I went under my truck to do a general visual inspection and I came across the tube on the 4WD actuator being disconnected. The end was basically in shreds.

I cut the affected part and reattached it, but I would like to know what consequences did that have if any.

I’ve only used the 4WD to exercise once a month, and when it disengaged it made a “clunk” sound. I took the truck to a shop to get the transmission fluid changed and mentioned the sound to the tech but he didn’t find anything important. (Time to find a new shop)

thank you in advance for your comments!

I should have mentioned that this was in the back of the transmission, not by the front diff!

    Am I misidentifing a component?

Right on! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer.

Do you happen to know what that tube is for??

Mine will some times thump when disengaging 4WD.
Usually it happens if I’m moving and there is some strain on the drive line.
Like braking or throttle. Usually does not happen if I am stopped with no tension on the drive line.

First. Good on you for poking your head under your truck and taking the time to see if anything is misplaced, people tend to not do this.

You are 99% likely to be fine unless you dunked the truck in water up to that point on the tcase. (Ill have to make sure mine is still good on my truck next time im under there)

Thank you!! It's my first car ever and I'm trying to take care of it as best as I know how.

And I haven't had the chance to take it offroading, so I don't think there's any water in there. Thank you so much for your answer!!

    Yeah you are good then!

did you just buy the 06? Definitely go through and change ALL of the fluids, engine oil, engine coolant, transmission fluid, front diff, transfer case, rear diff, brake fluid and power steering fluid. If you dont know if the serpentine belt has been replaced, just replace it and keep the original one as a spare IN the truck. Check the air cleaner, and clean the maf sensor and you should be pretty much good go to for a long time.

Thank you so much for your recommendations!

I bought it in January, and so far I’ve changed engine oil and transmission fluid.
I’ll definitely will look write ups on doing everything else tho!

    Thanks again!
