    Just get a dark one from an auto wrecker, swap them out. Less headache.

    Base
    Hello! New to the forum, only had my Taco for about 10 months. I bought a base model (plus carpets and remote) double cab. Love it so far!!!

    I have learned a lot about it, adding the accessories I have wanted. Added the fog lamps (already wired, just needed the switch, relay, and lamps themselves), installed a back-up camera, intermittent wipers, some cosmetic things...

    I want to learn more about what else would be part of the SR5 and above packages that I can add myself. The reason I got the base was so I could pick and choose and save money by installing things myself.

    Related to this post, what is the open wiring spot under the console, just by the gear selector? I've seen some pictures with a line plugged in there, others where it is not.

    Last, I'm picking up the OEM wiring harness and hitch to install myself for towing. They come with instructions... Any chance i can see ahead of time how they hook up so I can wrap my head around it?

    A lot of info, I know. Let me know if someone can help!

    I had an issue of the heated seats would work intermittently. I used your instructions to pull it down to access the switches. I popped the switches out and popped the top cap off the switch to access the interior of the switch. Use a awl or small pick and insert in into the hole in the opposite side of the switch light, push in and up. Then insert pick into the top of the side with the light and pop the top cap off. I found the inside full of greasy crapola which was covering the contacts. Drinks remnants I'm guessing. There are some small parts that can fall out of the cap so watch out. image.jpg
    I removed the little contacter inside which falls out easily so be careful not to lose it. image.jpg
    Cleaned it all out, put it all back together and the heated seats now work perfectly

    Sub'd - Process of installing floor and this helped.

    Curious if anyone knows what the white plug on driver side (bottom left) of OP last photo. I am trying to find wiring diagrams and have run snake eyes.

    I want it to be a charger connection that I can run a 12v/USB from factory wiring. It is driving me mad

    Update: Found it (Power inverter) https://youtu.be/0cG7OQMNRf4

    My heated seat switches are mounted to the center console, I need to troubleshoot the high setting for the driver's side. Thanks for this write up, it will make it very easy!

    Then how are you going to get the center part off, since the knob is wider then the shifter gate? It just unscrews...

    A neat trick to offset the removal of the shift knob;

    Once you have all the console unbolted/unscrewed, and pull back and up a bit, then turn on the car so that you can change gears. With the shift stick pulled back, it is no longer in the way, making it much easier to remove the front part of the console.
