That is one or two hospitals in NYC that serve the poor and uninsured. They are always operating at near capacity. We sent a big ass ship that sat empty because there were no patients to serve. Seems kind of odd to react in such serious measures when those numbers are not being seen outside that are. We are a country of 400,000,000 after all. Around me hospitals are around 30% bed capacity and they are furloughing staff. Not sure I understand how this is overwhelming.

I would gladly sign your waiver if you were willing to sign one that you would accept no medical care for anything other than covid, you accepted no stimulus, you accepted no hand outs, you paid your rent/mortgage every month, you paid all your taxes, you agreed to not accept unemployment, and you agreed to always wear a mask.

So then you’re saying you want that ventilator on standby huh

There’s a guy here, who watches (and repeats) bullshit he sees on tik tok. Talks a big game about how this is all fake...then puts on a mask when he works on things others may have touched.

That’s the world we live in now.

Construction has been pretty good lately here in North Texas. Production slowed down a decent amount, but fortunately not enough to lay any of our workers off. I keep telling everyone that the moment things go back to "normal" , that is when things will get worse and businesses will close once again.

I personally know 3 people with the virus.

Maybe consider getting back to “normal”, and you going out and being in contact with the virus somewhere or somehow. You come back home and end up passing it on to you wife or kids or another person you care about....

    One of those people dies.

Is it really worth it just to get out and about?

I am not saying we should hide at home in fear for terrorists. This is way different and invisible. What about if one of your family members died that worked in healthcare due to everyone starting another exacerbation of this?

I am not saying you can’t make your own decisions. I am not trying to change your mind either. I don’t know you nor is it likely that your choices will affect me, my friends or loved ones but just remember that each person’s decisions can affect so many others.

I am pretty sure that during the last pandemic (1918) there was no “unemployment insurance “, stimulus checks, or even health insurance.

My grandfathers sister (like 20 at the time) died, my wife’s grandfather (around 5 at the time) and his four siblings were orphaned when both parents died, and I never heard either of those guys complain...

Safe to say that we live in a more secure environment these days, and it seems like everyone spends lots of time and money trying to make it more secure.

Our Mother Nature probably has a different agenda.

It’s like...casually observing myself in a natural disaster/apocalypse movie. And we’re in the first act. Who knows what’s next. Tidal wave. Robotic bees... it’s anyone’s guess really. :notsure:

The hospitals I've taken patients to aren't full. One local hospital here had to close a whole floor because they aren't seeing enough patients. New nurses there couldn't get their final check-offs because they're aren't enough patients to treat.

From what I've gathered, this thing isn't the black plague that the media hyped this up to be. I've known 6 people with the virus. Half of them didn't have symptoms and the others had mild symptoms. 5 out of the 6 have returned to work. One of the guys still has not returned to work because he is still showing positive for COVID-19 22 days after finding out he was positive. It pretty much has the same fatality rate as the flu. Yes people have died. But a majority of those deaths were people who had underlying issues or those who died perished of something else, but they were labeled has COVID deaths because they were infected.

People will lose their jobs, will lose their homes, will lose their families because of one of the biggest overreactions in recent history. An essential job is one that puts food on table. Once the unemployed deplete their savings, you will see desperation beyond what happened in 2008.
