Are Kings still the preferred coilover for the northeast salt and snow? I don't know if I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I'm considering an upgrade from my Old Man Emu shocks.

That's what I went with (no winters yet) I figure they are rebuildable enough that certain items are replaceable. I'll do my best to keep them clean and hope for the best. I think Fox makes an aluminum body option.

We should just stop the salt and do the corontine every time it gets icy.

Pretty much anything is going to get trashed by all the shit they put on the roads. It's more what do you have the budget for, do you want a shock that's re-buildable but you'll need to account for that downtime. Or have non-rebuild bale shocks that are cheap enough when they need to be replaced.

Hinestly I'd go with the bilstein 5160 rear and 6250 fronts. I was super happy with that setup on my FJ. Sure they get looking crusty, but they were very reliable for me. I wish they had them for 100 series cause that's what I would have put on it.

About the same here, and with the same advice. Disinfect and clean EVERYTHING. Beyond that, do what you want. :notsure:

King also has shaft guards, likely will make them a pita to clean, but will protect from salt impacting shafts. Shafts are fairly inexpensive in the grand scheme of things when you do a rebuild.

Then they picked a kicker in the 5th round who supposedly was not on any ones draft board. Waste of a pick there if they could have gotten him in the 7th round or as an undrafted rookie. Dude played his 1st 2 years of College at URI.

Yeah my Old Man Emu suspension on my jeep looks like shit now. Should have used fluid film from day 1.

Yup, did anyone see the TFLTruck youtube video with the guy with a high mile F-150 from NH? He said he fluid filmed with bar oil and that truck looked pristine. I am definitely going to fluid film my Tacoma later this summer/fall.

I wish I did it the day I brought my Taco home just before Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, work at the time, kept me from getting it done before the first snow storm I dealt with. But I have been cleaning it off after each storm and still looks good for now.

It's not too late. I got mine in December and should have set it up the next day, but I didn't.

I've also learned I take it out into the dirt enough that I might actually trade it in after about 5 years rather than deal with long term effects of getting mud and dirt in everything o_O especially if I move south to TX, pitch it and get one that hasn't seen any salt. Might end up in a 4 banger next time.

But yeah, FF or WW is the way to go. I'll probably be getting the gizmos in a few months and doing mine.

My friend who moved from ME to LA was asked not to bring his car to get serviced anymore since they didn't like working on his rusty car.

Yeah I might wait until the fall as I plan to give a pretty detailed washing to the truck during all this stay at home stuff.

Bitches. Unless it was so bad that things are breaking off, they should handle it. Your friend should at least give them a bad review.

Maine is rough. they use a lot of salt. RI is far enough south that it's actually not too bad down here.

I did at first but with how much I have learned I will likely be taking it into the trails....I'll just pressure wash the mud off. I am looking to get one of those under-truck wheeled pressure washer attachments though.

My friend got one of those recently. I still need to get a pressure washer. I think those recommend 2000PSI which if you have an electric pressure washer for cars, it may not be strong enough, something to consider.

Hmmmmm didn't know that. I have this one: https://www.snowjoe.com/products/su...4keimsbxjo1WpHevoeo9Zur95Jc_mV6kaAmdnEALw_wcB

I think. Got it on Craigslist. I need to get a 50ft hose, in theory. If we move away I won't want to keep it, so for now I just have to turn the car around if I don't want to move the pressure washer. :notsure:
