Most Taco owners don't off road there Trucks, but they want them to look like they can.

Along those lines why not just always stay home and play life safe? I think covid is teaching a lot of people that few activities are 100% safe, but doing dangerous shit to one degree or another is what makes you feel alive.

To paraphrase Adam Carolla, injuries heal, material items can be replaced or fixed, but being a pussy is a lifetime sentence.

My truck is going to stay 87% stock.
The only thing I am looking to do are better tires with more tread, but not huge.
Better skid plate and rock sliders for protection.

Or we can watch this moron and see how much abuse a tacoma can take

I have a 8-5 Computer Job. I sit my ass on a chair almost the entire time. My office is big and private but I have no damn Windows. It makes me go crazy. My family and I are outdoor people. To me the joys in life are driving out to a remote area and hearing birds chirp, wind hitting trees, water flowing in the background and my kids running around picking up rocks, acorns, pine cones, and me cranking out some bad ass beef fajitas and hot dogs, etc etc.

I love it because it gets me away from people and technology.

Mm. Be careful with them acorns. I once picked one up to throw in the fire and by the time I realized it was a tarantula I was halfway into a fear blackout.

I’m a destination guy not the journey is the purpose. Places I want to go require clearance and 4x4

For me, I like the challenge, stock can go quite a ways, modified can go places wirer it's hard to walk. It's a sense of accomplishment to build a vehicle that con conquer off road terrain that leave lesser vehicle grinding on the rock or stuck in the mud.

I like working on my truck and yes some if it is frivolous but I like the look and I like the added functionality I've added to my truck with other mods.

Why off road? Well I just need to get away from people from time to time, it is really nice to get away and just decompress even for just a night. I've had some sublime moments just watching the night sky and listening to the "wilds" so to speak with no human around for miles. It's also fun to go out as a group drive the trails and camp from time to time.

I modded my truck based on what I liked and what it's intended use would be. It's my daily driver and weekend get away vehicle so I don't see doing any rock crawling but I want it to be more capable than stock with more clearance just due to past experience with other vehicles. I like some of the overland rigs I see but I don't think that is where I want to go with my truck. That might change if I get into a situation where I wished I had "X" and didn't have it but for now I am OK with it.
