"Are you sure you want to drive through your garage door?" would be more accurate/appropriate.

I'm on the fence about upgrading to the VF.

I'm happy with the 2.0 tune, and don't see myself messing with the tune itself.

What may be worth it to me is if there are features we will be able to turn on / off.

    Like. For example

1.Alt voltage charging for AGM batt (edit: just read the last page and saw this would be included sweet)
    2. Different throttle tip in when in low range vs high
    3. ???

    Guess what I'm asking is,.

Will VF be more of a tune platform,. Or will it have simple useful features we can turn on and off outside of fuel maps etc
    ...

Is there a way to 4 the four battery type presets similar to how a solar panel control module has? Basically select “WET, AGM, etc...”

For us less savvy electrical folks

What does "increase the duty for added work", means?

Does that mean, a person should have a AGM battery in their truck for that increase in voltage output?

    @OVTune @Rafael@OVTune

The one question that still confuses me (and I think others)....

Does vFTuner provide the standalone capability to FLASH a p5f tune using just the vFTune key?

If so, does this include older p5f files we may have saved?

If so, does this include the 2.0+Final+Test files and the unreleased 2.0+Final+Final ???

It has been my understanding that the older p5f files as well as the "Tune Pack" p5f files are somehow "different" in order to be compatible with vFTuner. Is that a true statement?

They are different. P5f files are not compatible with VF Tuner.

To be clear if you have a dongle trade towards vF tuner you will be given a key that allows vF tuner flashing and p5F flashing

If you, as a new customer order the tune pack, you will get the same.

If you are a new customer and buy only vF tuner you can flash .vFT files only

Sounds like with vf and the tune library, we no longer need pcm or p5f? Everything can be done in vf?

so since I chose the $79 option and kept the dongle , may I open the instructions for the VFtune now before the Tacoma release and send what ever info it wants in to get a different key than the master key i already have ?

Lol, that's what I'm worried about. I sent in my info, but only dropped my dongle in the mail on Saturday. Hopefully it gets to you in the next day or so. We're on the same coast so it shouldn't take long.

With Alternator/Charging being discussed. My 2018 Tacoma still has its original oem battery. Back when my Tacoma was 11-months old with 19k miles on it, I noticed a decent amount of corrosion on the negative battery terminal. I took off the negative cable and cleaned it and the battery terminal very thoroughly. 6-months later I noticed the corrosion coming back. It is my understanding that if only the negative terminal is getting corrosion build up and the battery is not leaking, it is due to undercharging. That being said, it sounds like the charging volts are too low for any battery type.

Hi all - I am new to Tacoma and to this topic. I have a basic understanding of tune mapping - but this seems to enable much more tweaking... Is there are OVTune 101 posting or webpage somewhere?

I agree with @snwbrdr852: I think something like this would go a very long way in helping people see the value of the software.

    For example:
Can anyone provide insight into what improvements can be provided by this tuning capability with regard to:
    - Benefit for the manual transmission Tacoma performance to be expected via OVTune?
    - Benefits relative to a re-gearing - will this help to improve the gaps suffered by in the stock 'mechanicals'?

    Thanks!

No and none of my other vehicles are having this issue.
My 2010 Tacoma never did it, I sold it with over 120k on the odometer and it was 9-years old.

Google "undercharged battery negative corrosion". a lot comes up.

    From the link below:
Why is the Negative Terminal of my Car Battery Corroded?
On the negative terminal of the battery, you’ll generally see a white and crusty build-up. This is lead and sulfuric acid that is caused by the battery remaining perpetually in a state of being undercharged.
