    Isn't that interesting though?

    Towns whose names end in -boro, -burg, and -ville are no problem.
    It's the ones of native American derivation that trip up visitors.
    Also, strangely, transplanted English town names.

    Off the top of my head, there's Staunton, VA, in the Shenandoah Valley.
    Visitors say Ston-ton.
    Locals say Stan-ton.
