That's what a two speed transfer case is for - torque multiplication.

I know that no vehicle is perfect but my F-150 transmission is unacceptable. The next step is a full rebuild but I have zero confidence the issues will be resolved.

Honestly, it scares the hell out of me that Toyota is having similar issues. Is the 4Runner more reliable? I hate throwing good money after bad.

Well, yes, but then you try to turn....
I’m just saying, the high-revving v6 is not a good truck engine due to it’s low torque at low rpm.

And whoever decided to slap this manual transmission behind it, with that tall reverse gear, probably didn’t test it.

Yeah, I'm kinda scared about letting them change the rear end housing on mine. Makes me wonder what will be screwed up next or what did they may do wrong installing it. Kinda getting used to the noise now LOL.

Well Ford has approved a buyback on my 2019 F150 since they haven't fixed it and dont know when they will get the correct rear end housing. After reading this forum and a test drive today I will be buying a 2020 Tacoma TRD offroad 4wd once my buyback is complete. Thanks everyone for the replies.

The only time I miss my 3/4 ton ram is every time I need to haul heavy or tow heavy, the rest of the time I am happy with the tacoma

Yeah I traded my Ram and the only thing I miss is the power it had. Overall, the new Tacoma is perfect for what I need and do. Didn’t tow much with the Ram. Going to get a camper shell on the new Tacoma to compensate for the lack of room in the back seat for trips.

    Mostly dust and dirt.
    I downsized from a 13 F150 to a 20 Tacoma SX.
On occasion I miss the 8 foot bed of the Ford.
    Otherwise I have no regrets.

I don't really care for driving full-size trucks generally, with a few exceptions. I VERY much enjoy the 9th-generation Ford F350. They're giant, slow, TERRIBLE on gas (the one I used to drive at my old job is pictured below and got like 6 MPG unladen), and handle like battleships. But there is just something about them that I love.

    F350 img 1.jpg

Occasionally I do think about how cool a Tundra would be. I've been in a 1794 and it was enormous inside and superbly comfortable. It was a giant V8 armchair of a truck.

I think I'll stick to the little trucks for daily use, though.

I moved from a full sized in 2015 and, for my use, I can’t see myself ever moving back, especially in the multi level parking garages I have to park in when I work downtown, they are hell with a full sized truck.

I miss being able to hold 70mph on I10 without turning 3200rpm.

I still miss my 01 tundra, but i don't miss having to fill the fuel tank as often. That truck had a superb transmission matched to the engine, and rear axle gearing. Rpm rarely went above 2500 even when towing my 2 place triton enclosed snowmobile trailer with sleds upgrades.

That's the best body style Ford ever had, had 2 of them with a Powerstroke in them. Kinda remind me of the square body Chevrolet's.

    A few.
Agreed. I always liked those years in the F-250's.

I like everything about my Tacoma except the lack of power and feeling like I'm in a constant head wind on the highway/ interstate. It checks all other boxes for me. I've had full size Chevy and Ford, but the Tacoma is much more nimble.

I just bought my Taco so was a little surprised at how easy it gets thrown around in the wind. I guess being small and lighter than my previous trucks would be why. Any clue if running wider tires would help with this?
