I hate Entune Premium. Can I go to Entune 3.0 for Apple Car Play?

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport with head unit #510365. This come with Entune Premium whose best feature is navigation but pales in comparison to Waze. I'd also like to use many of my other Apps too. I'd really like to be able to use Apple CarPlay which of course Premium won't allow (I wanna break these chains). Does any one know if the dealer can replace the premium software with Entune 3.0 so I can use Apple CarPlay? Not looking at options outside of Entune at the moment.

    Thanks ahead!!

Welcome to the forum, short answer...Nope, long answer.... there are ways to get Apple car play on your current head unit. Several companies make add on modules which will cost around $500.

Thanks Capt! I figured this was the case from reading other postings :-( Too bad Toyo couldn't have made this a lil more user friendly.

I was like you and had the 2019 model wishing to get apple car play. I bit the bullet and got a Kenwood head unit that had car play, I retain my steering wheel and my sound system sounds dramatically better.

Here’s a YouTube link I watched last night. They can put an Entune 3.0 radio in your Entune 2.0 truck. All of this for the lowly price of $1899. :sorry:
