If you look at a Toyota parts diagram it shows it for every year I've seen. Look up your truck and see if the part was there for your year.

I had mine out for approx 2 years if memory serves me correctly and never had an issue. Filter was always dry and didn't get change often. I now have an '18 and wondering if it has the same set up.

Mine came straight off the intake with a downward turn to the fender liner where it pulled air in from. I cut the downward angle off when I installed the snorkel for the tube to connect to the intake. The snorkel tube runs from the rear of the fender to the point where it pulled air in from before.

I would love to see someone do a removal video on this.

I just installed my CAI after removing the snorkel, not sure if removing the snorkel is gonna help at all but well see. I haven't had any crazy horsepower but the truck feels a little more responsive... IDK maybe the placebo effect lol, but I was looking at a K&N and didn't want to drop $320 so I actually found a lesser known brand AF Dynamics, they make for the 2.7l and 4.0l taco's, I'll leave the link to both. Mine was $160, way better price and still great quality.

Unless somebody can toss up immediate before and after dyno or mpg results you guys are insane for removing this. You have no evidence that it does anything other than make you more likely to ruin your truck by water getting into the engine. Just because the pipe necks down doesn't mean it restricts anything. Just because the changes the sound doesn't mean it restricts anything.

Why would Toyota allow a restriction in a part this simple that robs gas mileage in an age where manufacturers are scratching and clawing to get the best MPG numbers they possibly can? Think about it.

That's a lot of water. I assume it will eventually evaporate in the warmer months unless you're going through puddles regularly. I have driven my stock 2.7 in some pretty serious rainstorms and I'm glad this snorkel/baffle thingy is still installed. While I would love 2 additional MPGs, I doubt it would give that much benefit, if any. It runs great and I want to keep it that way.
