Torque monster! Once I got the pilot jet tuned, I couldn't keep the front wheel down, even up here at 9,000ft.

I learned to ride on my grandpa's CT110 then moved to an XR250R. Nowadays, after being spoiled by the easy button on my 500EXC, this experience confirmed I could never go back to kick-start-only.

Nice ride! Love the old air cooled machines, bullet proof!
One of those wish I never sold it stories.... I had a 2001 XR650R (water cooled/Aluminum frame) and converted it for street use, it was an awesome bike. Not sure why I ever sold it......

I had this one since 2003. I used to have one before that in the early 80’s but sold it, and I regretted it so much bought this one.

Finally got around to putting in a tech deck and Expedition Essentials rail mount. Also put an extra Baja Designs dome light I had laying around in the engine bay.

There has to be alot of labour in that price. Gravel should run around $10 to $25 cdn/ton plus delivery. If they are not building the road as well, then someone misplaced a decimal point somewhere along the line.

Bunch of cosmetic stuff because it's easy to do in between conference calls.. cleaned up my tires and added some red marker highlights to my BFG KO2.
    IMG-1542.jpg

Next I'm going to spray my fender flares and predator running boards with some bed liner (DIY) as they're all a little beat up. Any insights on the fender flares appreciated. One is really heavily scratched (wife scraped against concrete post in parking garage). Wondering the best way to smooth out - was going to sand with an orbital sander on slow with fine grain sandpaper to clean up. Thinking I might have sand all four to get a consistent finish? But also thinking the sanding will be best for the bed liner spray to stick anyway? Thoughts?

This Covid project all started because ......

I wanted to relocate the trailer plug up into the bumper where it was protected like on the newer models. I then thought it would be great to also have the 7:4 pin plug for the simple fact that it is way more useful since most trailers only have a 4 pin plug. Along the way I decided that I needed a led tailgate light bar as well (I really like how the look ). I was also able to do this with out cutting in to the factory harness.

So I started by buying the 7:4 pin plug and cutting the hole in the bumper to mount it.

    Mounting hole cut out.
    20200503_152856~2.jpg

    Plug installed in the bumper.
    20200503_153329~2-1.jpg

To keep from cutting into and modifying the factory wire harness I made a interconnect cable to attach the old 7 pin to the new 7:4 pin and I also included another 4 pin connector to power a tailgate light bar.

    20200520_105558_resized.jpg
Now to mount the old connector in a way that it is protected and also accessible.

    20200523_160306_resized.jpg 20200523_160342_resized.jpg 20200523_160414_resized.jpg 20200523_160619_resized.jpg
Then mounting the LED light bar came next. It required taking the tailgate off which sounds really easy but in reality is a little more involved. It required me to get under the back and unplug the rear camera as well as remove the tail gate cover plate to unplug the popNlock. Then the tailgate can be removed. Then light bar plugged in and tested. Then installed. Once it was all back together again I was able to stand back and enjoy this beautiful rear end with a cold, cold adult beverage

    Finished product.

Sat in some vinegar for a bit. Sanded it down. Didn't remove all the casting blurbs as I thought added some character.

05-11 SS3 sport fog 3000k package is installed and I am already loving it!!!!

Disclaimer on how I got mine installed so soon since they just went up on their website.

During the initial release of the SS3 pods, Paul from @Diode Dynamics posted that their was a mount for the 05-11 in development and would soon be released. Since the SS3 pods are so modular and would only need the new mounting bracket, I asked Paul if I could order a set at that time and get the mounting bracket shipped out whenever they are released. He agreed, so I went ahead and ordered them to avoid the back orders from the holiday rush. While Paul and his team were working on the mounting setup he contacted me asking if I would test fit the prototype and provide feedback. I was surprised and happy at the same time so I agreed. After Diode Dynamics finalized their design and hardware, I got sent a set of the mounting brackets and all hardware earlier this week.

-Now that that's taken care of... The important stuff.-

I was able to get the SS3 fogs installed yesterday. The process was pretty easy using the video that Diode Dynamics provided. After watching it a few times there really weren't any problems. As I went through the process I was checking for small details along with taking some pictures, so the first one took longer to install that it should have. I timed myself installing the passenger side without using the video and got everything done in 39 minutes.

I did find a few items that need to be mentioned.

The provided "bolts" that are used on each side of the assembly are screws and will require a 4mm Allen key. I found that using a 90* allen key in order to access the side screws made it easier. The screw that is on the outside (closest to fender) definitely requires a right angle allen key otherwise you can not access it. The inner screw (closer to engine) can be a little more difficult to get lined up and installed since you can't see it at all.

I set the adjustment screw to the suggested depth "even with the back of the bracket", but I feel that this might limit the amount of downward adjustment to much right from the start. Maybe try only threading the screw halfway. However, I have not tried using the adjustment screw for focusing yet, I only have used the tension of the side screws. I included pictures of my current focus which has the pods at the bottom of the tension limits with the adjustment screw set at the suggested threading. I have not had much road time with them installed other than driving to the park for initial focusing and photos. I will try using the adjustment screw when I get a chance to.

Focusing the fogs after installation was not to hard at all. Before finishing with each side. I tightened the outside screw (closest to fender) as tight as I could get it with the nylon nut before I reinstalled the fender liner while leaving the other screw tight enough. When sitting next to the wheel and you have the wheel turned all the way to one side, just like installation, you are able to reach in and access the inner screw (closest to the engine) (The 90* allen key is also handy for this). This give you a clear view to see the cutoff of your headlights and properly focus the fogs below that line and then lock it down with tension of the side screws. I will try using the adjustment screw when I get a chance to, but I think you most likely will have to lay under the truck. So using the side screws for finalizing your focus will definitely make it easier for you to identify where the beam should be. Gotta find that sweet spot with the adjustment screw and side tension, especially if you have a lift and will need to focus the fogs even lower than normal.

I have also included other pictures showing usage along with before/after.

Besides those few things everything was great and the lights are amazing. I love the look of them and the extremely wide coverage.

My truck has stock front shocks, 5100 rear with TSB leaf and 265/70/17 Falken wildpeak At3 for height reference. Headlights are Philips X-treme Vision +130% Headlight Bulbs mounted in aftermarket projectors.

I am still working on the final focus.

Thank to goes out to @crashnburn80 for his amazing write ups and unbiased information. It's because of your write ups that I bought the SS3 fogs.

Big thanks to Paul and his team at @Diode Dynamics for letting me be a part of this release.

Been working on the rail, pulled maintenance, tuned it up, just went all through it.

I installed some Mickey Thompson desert tires on it and terrorized the neighborhood.

    Definitely pulls 3rd gear wheelies.

No rest for the wicked here! I just got an 1890 Victorian house on the market two days before our state locked down. Went from seven tours on that Tuesday down to four the next day. Should have known something was up when I returned some trim paint to my friend the painter. He told me not to come onto the porch and his wife came out with mask and gloves to wipe off the can before they took it into their house. I thought they were yanking my chain! Then, only one other showing. Luckily, we got an offer close to the asking price. Unluckily, they had a small list of demand of fixes. All but one of the jobs took forever. When I first bought the house, I said to my sister, I swear that house is trying to kill me, she replied, "well, she is an old lady!" Of course, that meant a lot of trips to the different stores, so no staying clear of people. On top of the house, a friend of mine found a nice honey hole full of old motorcycles and parts. So I helped him drag them back to his place, then helped him get several Harley WLDs more or less together to sell. Did I mention he was in a blues band and lives rock star hours, so I would work on the house in the morning, then go to his place at around 2 in the afternoon, then work until 2-5 in the morning. Glad that's over, now we are getting to work on his 1967 police shift Shovelhead, and my 47 Knucklehead bobber. In between, the Taco radio went out, that took up a couple of mornings, still under the extended warranty they gave me for the differential problems. Tires are getting pretty slick, so looking for some wheels, and maybe some of those fog lights I see on here. To much fun, stay safe!
