@OVTune You guys thought about putting SPD turbo adapters on those PowerMax or Base Kits?

Mat, I will be one of the first batch TT kits.

Do you think running two 2.5" GESI race cats in parallel directly after your manifolds with a custom 2.5" Y pipe will be sufficient?

I won't have any cats with the new manifolds and don't want CEL's (running secondary cat delete with URD Y pipe).

I'd say since there are a lot of different exhaust options, it will be hard for Mat to accommodate those requests to tweak the program to avoid the CEL's. That's where VFTuner comes in the picture, you should be able to make slight changes to avoid the CEL's. As long as Mat let's us know the conditions that trigger them (it's probably more complicated than this, think non steady state vs steady state etc) Maybe I'm thinking wrong about this, but that's what I think might be the case.

You would also be able to purchase credits and request his help for your particular setup. We need to remember that he has to be careful on what he discloses here on anything related to emissions.

Just look up code setting criteria for whatever CEL it is. It'll let you know where to look. Then live Data and tweak w vFtuner as necessary

When you run NO catalytic converters you are sure to get a CEL. I've been without CEL's running a secondary cat delete and once I install OVT's TT kit which will delete the primary cats, I won't be running ANY cats and for sure will fire CEL's.

I plan on adding an aftermarket high flow cat into each downpipe which should remedy my problem. However, since Mat stated that the current OEM exhaust is a bottle neck, I wanted to have a custom exhaust made with bigger downpipes. Currently, our Taco's run 2.25" downpipes (Y pipe) which is too narrow for boosted applications. There are aftermarket downpipes for the 3.5 ecoboost which use 3" downpipes and claim a 25-30 HP bump compared to OEM exhaust.

Ideally, we should be running similar 3" downpipes for the TT kit; especially if Mat has confirmed that it is a bottleneck. However, I don't know if 3" downpipes will fit easily under our trucks. I was planning on 2.5" downpipes/race cats which will be better than OEM set up but wanted some recommendations whether we really should be going 3".

On the current kits 3 inch downpipe would be a great addition if you're really looking to squeeze as much power per psi as possible.

The standard kits though are planning to be a more bolt on, OEMesque affair, with 2.25 inch downpipes. Similar to what you would see on a stock twin turbo car.
And we are looking into having a catted downpipe option.

It still makes plenty of power on 2.25"

I mean, the numbers that Mat posted with the 2.25" pipes are really nice anyway, so further upgrades are just a bonus, rather than a necessity. Except for the horsepower hunters I suppose.

Either way, people will probably make good use of vF to tweak their tunes to account for larger exhausts. Personally, I'll be happy with the base kit and stock TRD exhaust.

Will the catted downpipes be an option in time for your current timeline to ship the first kits or no? Since I'm sure someone will ask.

And since I don't mind minimizing opportunities to pop CELs lol :notsure:

I think once you feel the powermax turbos at 10psi as is in this little truck you won't even bother with trying to squeeze more out.

It is a very nice balance of giving it all the power it needs without going overboard.

Think about it, a 1000HP GTR is nuts! But a 500hp HP GTR with a wide torque band is much more fun.

There is always someone that will want more, just so they can say they have the most. We all know that.....

That being said, this truck with the power numbers you posted (even on the base kit), is going to be a completely different vehicle.

It probably sounds "lame" from the extreme off roarders but a bit of boost and dirt roads are all day fun.

If I could make any recommendation of a mod to go with it is bigger tires.

You'd probably be burning up the stock small street tires quickly, but my tires for example hold it down pretty good.

Already doing a lot of that on 2.0. 1st and 2nd gear are nutty.

it's a male hammer swinging contest out here in the streets lol.

I'm ~5.5 or whatever the number is powermax kit for now.
I just want to know can I outrun my friends V8 pickups lol.

Plus, maybe I'll be the only boosted 3rd in alabama for a while.

It doesn't sound lame at all :D....as long as there is really good control in 4-lo (tip in, etc.).

funny you say that. the one reason I've considered TTs is so i can go to 33's and keep my performance. if the driveability is as good as NA then that will be mighty tempting.

Exactly what I am after as well! Glad I went with the PowerMax's + DI.

Mat, will you be contacting us on when to pay the balance or how will that work?

On my 2011 S/C Taco I have equal length headers, URD Ypipe and a 3” AFE exhaust which eliminates all 4 cats. I’m one of those guys that try to squeeze out every bit of power and let me tell you it’s ridiculously loud and unenjoyable on road trips. This time around I’m going for a bit more practically than full race truck. I recommend anyone that hates a rumbling exhaust and enjoys his/her comfy quiet ride to keep the exhaust stock as possible. I’ve since added a vibrant ultraquiet resonator to tame it down a little and I’d say it took down the drone marginal at best but not much else. Also a side note before I went with the UCON EMS I used to run a split second fuel controller which required me to run a O2 simulator in order to avoid a CEL. It works by sending false voltages to the ecu from the the downstream sensors and is fully plug and play. If the VFtuner for some reason is unable to void the cel light then this is a good option for those going catless.
