My family down here would never understand any of what you posted here, and it made me realize Maine is a whole different place :p

My in-laws don't understand it. We didn't have our nuisance tag for the apple orchard this past year so the freezer was a bit light this spring. I don't buy meat from the store.

I was never a hunter. Started to look into it a bit for small game. I’d like to do bird hunting maybe turkey. Maybe start fishing for food but I’m not a big fish guy. Don’t know the ri roadkill laws down here either.

wife is a vegan and a deer is too big for me, even with dispersing goodies to friends. I’d like to start learning and doing rabbit, duck, geese, etc.

Also looking at moving down south either tx or Carolinas.

Small game is great. You go out with a higher chance of success and can consume your entire take for the day. I do try to eat vegan + seafood and wild game. I bet her food values and mine align more than someone who goes to the grocery store to pick up their meat and don't think anything about where it comes from.

I don't know about the rest of you but I am getting really tired of this one sized fits all lockdown we have going on here in MA. Gov. Baker totally dropped the ball with his last announcement extending the mandatory non-essential business closure until May 18th. A lazy & thoughtless decision like most 'one sized fits all' solutions. There are MANY "non-essential" business that can operate safely at this time. Common sense has left the building!

I will be driving to Connecticut on Sunday to play a round of golf. Money I should be spending locally.

No this isn't just about golf, either.

    Rant over...

I currently buy meat from a grocery store, which is why I want to get a deep freeze and go for my own. I don't eat much red meat, and I'm a-okay without pork. Not a big fish guy though.

But yeah, rabbit's good, hoping to get into it soon but might wait if/when we move so I don't have to figure out transporting/re-registering firearms and whatnot.

Not trying to be a dink, are you allowed to golf in CT when you're from MA? Genuinely curious...

Yeah I've been full-time on site every day since the first week of April. The part that annoys me is my health is okay to risk coming to work every day but the company next to us in the same exact building same ventilation same area, etc etc - they're closed. Their people aren't worth the risk....?

It is 100% legit for a MA residents to play gold in CT right now. Not easy to get a tee time, but it is legal.
Unlike in RI, where I'd be identified as a masshole, then quickly tarred, feathered and displayed on the local news :)

FYI. Here’s a quote from the State of Connecticut website:
Travelers: Any person coming into Connecticut by any mode of transportation for any reason is strongly urged to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Strongly urged, but not mandated is the key. Not supporting it, but there's a pretty big difference.

I'm within walking distance from the MA/VT border and Vermont has a highway sign lit up there saying something like that.

yeah i wasn't allowed to shoot at the range in ri with my mass license. i'm like "but i live in ri, i haven't left the state in forever." "doesn't matter, if you have an out of state license we have to quarantine the whole staff." meanwhile i can go grocery shopping here and get ran into by karen's on their phones

    Hey guys/gal;
I posted this on the TW express thread but thought a bit of visibility here couldn’t hurt. I’m trying to have a tailgate moved from northern VT currently in @Jeffch hands to CT. Anyone able to help?

Yup, alternative is that RI is a "must", as is Maine I think.

I don't think it's terrible. You're going to a remote area, seeing a few people, and then going home - also likely only a few miles away. I go into Massachusetts almost every day, I'm on the border of Seekonk! But, we're still "geographically" isolated even though we are crossing state lines. In theory I could go from East Prov all the way to Westerly, within state lines, and not have a quarantine - even though I cross several "natural/geographical" boundaries and see other populations.

Some common sense would go a long way these days, especially as it related with these suggested 14 day suggested quarantine from anyone out of state.

Here me out - So if I drive to CT to play golf, which is I paid for in advance, and I don't come in contact with anyone (except my foursome / All from MA), or touch anything that isn't my own, I should quarantine for 14 days. Zero logic in that, and no I won't be following that suggestion.

Don't take any of this the wrong way, I do take this seriously. I wear a mask in public places, & gloves when I have to handle stuff that isn't mine. I wash my hands about a hundred times a day and I've kept my world very small (no unnecessary contact with anyone). I have been lucky enough to be able to continue to work (& I do mean lucky) and still earn a paycheck. We need to start letting the businesses that can operate safely do so, not weeks from now, right now, or there won't be any left when this is over (if it ever is over).
