    Never fails to amaze me that so many people take the stance that anything in a contract is automatically fair, reasonable, and enforceable. That is a poor assumption.

    OP, contact your credit card company and dispute the charge. Explain the missed lead times. I guarantee they will side with you and you’ll get your deposit 100% back.

    It doesn't matter whether it's "fair" or "reasonable," the fact is that you agree to the terms when you make the purchase.

    Here's where you have no argument. It's been explained numerous times that the lead times are in no way guaranteed, and says so on the manufacturer's website. Add in a global pandemic limiting production and material availability, and you get exceptionally long lead times.

    If the OP had a personal crisis, and had to cancel the order due to financial difficulties, I could see the manufacturer waiving the cancellation fee. But, not because he got tired of waiting.

    @Uncle Feathers contact your credit card company and see what your options are there with them. if that doesn't work let SSO build the bumper but ask them not to ship it right away. Find someone else to buy it and give SSO their address for shipping instead of yours. You're not out any money, someone else gets a bumper and doesn't have to wait like you did AND SSO foots the bill to ship it.

    BTW...they are not currently a vendor here.

    Years ago, in a drunken state, I ordered a $2400 custom made still. Lead time was like 4 months. Got cold feet after a month and called and canceled the order. They promptly refunded the full $2400 without question. Made me feel bad about myself. :(

    Discount Bandit is actually a pretty legit site. I was a little wary at first but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on some camper parts - something like 25% off retail. Made the order, had an email confirmation right away, connected me to the seller, paid and shipped in record time. Everything showed up just as promised. I've been in the habit lately of checking there for big purchases if I'm not happy with what I'm finding on Amazon.
