    If she developed hypothyroidism as a result and had her thyroid removed, hormone replacement therapy is needed.
    The thyroid produces hormones that regulate the body's metabolic rate controlling heart, muscle and digestive function, brain development and bone maintenance. Too much hormone is no good as is too little.
