Hey guys, I have an 06 TRD Off Road, I put a new (used) rear diff lock motor into it. I bench tested it and it worked, installed it on a lift. I engaged the locker, it definitely locks. The light on the dash stays blinking. I've heard there is a ball-type sensor in the diff housing. Two questions-

Will it hurt the locker motor if the light stays blinking or the ball is not pushed? My thinking that it won't tell the locker motor to turn off?

Can you replace the sensor or is it molded into the diff housing? I've read on 1st gens you can replace the sensor but I felt around up there and it feels molded into the diff. I did also clean the contacts on the plug and switch with no change.

I don't care too much but it would be nice to know for sure if the locker will engage, as of now I can listen and hear the inside wheel skipping and I can hear it lightly click when I disengage it. Mostly just concerned a few years down the road about going to use it and not knowing for sure if it still works.

Hopefully I will get this truck sorted.

    Thanks so much.

Sounds janky. I’d try to fix it.

its a little plunger type sensor similar to a reverse light switch in a manual trans. Pull it out and push the plunger in/out, sometimes they get sticky

Can you pull it out? The plunger feels like it's part of the differential its self, not a separate sensor.

I pulled it out of my 2011. Should be a 24mm or 27mm deep socket

Clean around the base of the sensor with a pick, might just be coated w/ dirt and blending in

It’s the same locker as on the 1st gens. If I’m understanding your post right, then you’ll definitely want the limit switch to work or your locker motor will burn up

Thanks, I've only engaged it about twice for maybe a minute each. Do you think this is enough to burn the motor out? I still haven't had time to pull the sensor.
