Are you talking about that little filter there?

The theory is yes. A quality filter that won’t plug up and get sucked into the fan is the key. My truck currently has 79k miles and no issues. (Currently knocking on wood)

Forgot up ask, so did you remove the foam filter from inside the pump before you ran it with this new filter? I mean, if the foam going into the fan is the weakness, should I remove it?

That foam getting old falling a part has caused issues from what we've all read. That's what there filter helps to avoid by removing it and putting in the filter.

I have not. I looked into a couple years ago and there were some people having issues with it.

can you elaborate please? Are they have issues with their truck running well / throwing codes, or getting them to pass a smog emissions check?

Throwing codes is mostly what I remember. It’s been a couple years so might be worth researching.

I keep thinking about it. Seems like a lot of work. I'll think seriously about it when/if I go to a dual battery setup.

They sorted that with the PPP harness. It's just a bank that sends fake readings to the ECU to trick it and give you no codes.

"The SAIS Pump Proxy Pack is an Add-On to our popular SAIS Bypass Kits. Normally our SAIS Bypass Kits can’t clear a P0418 or P0419 but now they can with the additional installation of a Pump Proxy Pack. The other option for clearing a P0418/P0419 code after installing a SAIS Bypass kit is to replace the SAIS Air Injection Pump with a new and expensive pump. That is a particularly expensive repair if you have to pay for the labor on a 4.7L engine where the Air Injection Pump is located under the intake manifold. Installing a Pump Proxy Pack is much less expensive and less labor intensive than having to replace an air injection pump and you can just leave the old faulty pump in place."
