What is this? (Super white paint issue)

im finding spots like this in my paint. The vehicle is only 4 months old. I’ve already had paint flake off in some areas. Does anyone know what this is? Touch up? Clear coat missing?

I’m having it looked at by a paint company next weekend but wanted to hear some opinions. Thanks.

 

What part of the body is that on?

 

rear bumper on the edge.

 

Is it on the bottom side of the bumper? Just looks like a scuff mark.

 

more up pretty high and it’s small. It doesn’t look like a scuff. But idk. Paint guys looking at it Saturday.

 

Superwhite paint is known to have bunch of defects. Common to flake off on some curved areas such as the b/c pillars on 3rd gens it seems. I'd have them take a look at it and see if you can get the whole thing resprayed with clear.

 

I’ve been having issues with the dealer. They want to act like they’ve never heard of any problems and it’s my “fault” going to another dealer tomorrow morning for my 5k service so imma see if they can do anything for me. Super disappointed with the paint quality. The First dealer has “never heard heard of issues with white paint” and hasn’t even “seen” the recall. Smh

 

Yes, that is paint peel. Run your vin on Toyota’s recall page, if yours falls under the affected vehicle, print the page off. I got my notice a couple of months ago, but the recall also said there is no remedy ready yet, they are working on it. Toyota will send me another update notice when the remedy is available. My 12 year old scion is super white too and just started to peel in one place. Paint today is very thin and super white is single stage, so not much of a surprise. Although my runner doesn’t have any paint issues, doesn’t mean it won’t soon. Hope this helps.

 

First dealer ,is a complete liar ! Paint has been an issue on Toyotas for a long time now.

 

I had an issue with the paint on my 4Runner. I spotted it when I picked it up, so they couldn't say I did it after I drove off. They said it was moisture under the clear coat, and they had seen a few other vehicles have that issue. They fixed it with heat and it's been fine since.
