So when would one want to disable trac and vsc? To floor it up a sand dune?

TRAC and VSC can be a hindrance to forward momentum through torque limiting and brake actuation. If the situation calls for wheel speed then disabling them will help. Climbing a sand dune would be a good time to disable.

'EOR' happens first then the brakes kick in on the spinning tire, in the standard TRAC mode.

AUTO LSD (H2) and TRAC OFF (H4) has NO EOR, just brakes on the spinning tire(s). Thus, it is a stronger limited slip system than TRAC, so you can move ahead from a stuck. Press the VSC Off button quickly, moving or stopped.

VSC OFF is what turns off the limited slip and stability control. Press and hold in for 3+ seconds while stopped.

Pressing the button quickly again or restarting the truck returns you to normal TRAC mode.

For the OFF ROAD TRD 4X4s, even stronger than TRAC OFF is A-TRAC or MTS (multi-terrain, adjustable A-TRAC). A-TRAC is closer to lockers on the front and rear... A-TRAC/ MTS don't just slow a spinning tire, it halts it to match rotation with the other tire on that axle, just as a locking differential does.

CRAWL and DAC are cruise control features when crawling in low range so no need to touch throttle or brakes (unless you want to stop)... just steer!

*I will add that I have yet to test 3rd Gen modes to see how they are different than my 2nd Gen.

This is the correct description of how this system works. The only thing I will add is that AUTO LSD and TRAC OFF reverts back to TRAC after a certain speed is reached. The huge problem is that Toyota does a very poor job of describing the system. I suspect once a description get through Legal it is all but worthless. Most everyone is confused by this system.

Whenever something requires lots of wheel spin. Your example would be one.
