Is there provisions in VFTuner to change how the rev limiters work? IE: the hard bounce or cut to a soft style limiter?
how do you Log? do we use the obd adaptor with sd card? or is there another logging program that is needed?

Ok fine, but this is the silly shit that I’m glad you’re moving away from. The dongle and tune I bought from OVT for $700+ has to be sent to a third party to verify and issue a key although you are issuing new customer keys en masse rather promptly and efficiently.

I guess that the good news in all of this is that once this goat rope of a dongle swap is done, you will control the future processes in house.

Although I’m bitching about it, I understand the limitations and remain a supporter. My only legitimate concern is the lack of traditional comms via email indicating receipt, since USPS priority insurance claims must be made between 15-60 days.

    No, not really.
I am 99% sure Matt is doing the verifying, not any outside party. And Matt is still using an outside vendor (at least in part) to create the system reg keys. (So in the future if you need to change computers, it still will have to go thru the outside dev.) So moving forward it will still continue to use outside processes (I believe) for any new computers/changed computers, etc.

This is what I did to go from ordering the "free" vFTuner, returning my 3 year old dongle, and actually receiving all of the authorization keys I need to run the vFTuner software AND the p5f Flashing software. I have attached jpg images of all of the emails I received from OVTune and Zendesk in the process. I think I have blocked out all of my personal info and order numbers and key codes.

Step 1) On 04/16/20 I ordered the "free" vFTuner package from OVTune website. I received the confirmation email (jpg file starting with "1") that same day.

Step 2) I opened a Zendesk ticket stating that I placed the order and asking what steps were next. I attached a jpg of my order and of my dongle, and listed my original dongle order number from 2017. I figured too much info was better than insufficient info. THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME I EMAILED ZENDESK, EXCEPT FOR SENDING SYSTEM-ID SEVERAL DAYS LATER.

Step 3) On 04/17/20 I received email reply (jpg file starting with "2") from Zendesk as an acknowledgement that my Zendesk request had been received and would be responded to.

Step 4) On 04/17/20 I received email reply (jpg file starting with "3") from Zendesk with instructions to return dongle. I mailed it by regular mail (with two stamps) the same day.

Step 5) On 04/20/20 I replied (jpg file starting with "4") to the 04/17/20 Zendesk email with my System ID from the notebook I use for Flashing.

Step 6) On 04/23/20 I received email reply (jpg file starting with "5") from Zendesk with my vFTuner Master Key.

Step 7) On 04/29/20 I received email reply (jpg file starting with "6") from Zendesk with my p5F Flashing Key.

Hey thanks for taking the time out of your day to give such a thorough explanation. Your second email from Mat directly looks different than my 2nd email . I think I went through all the steps correctly other than sending him 2 different system id’s . I wiped my laptop back to factory reset and then installed Windows 10 coming from 7 and then downloaded all software and my system id was different for some reason. Thanks again for helping me out

I asked this before, but I'm gonna try to be a little more clear. If we were a p5 customer before, do we still need to send in the system ID for vF, or is that already covered since we had flash manager already? @OVTune . Thank you.

no you do not if you already have it registered.
You would know, when you open the flash tool and it says your name and the buttons are not grey

Not sure what do you mean?

Yes, they are down for a moment, as we upload a new version.

We will at a later time.

After we installed the reg key for Vf which Iguess I don’t need to do since I have a flash kit,we were to connect to truck and click “Identify” to get calibration info. E.g. 04A61,etc.. Do we still do this? Thanks for answering

    Okay,
so after digging through the code further, I think I was correct the first time.
There is a Base Phase Duty for the Alternator
This is the initial Duty required on start vs temp
Then there is an initial Duty % adder (start vs temp + adder)

Then, there are 3 Phase charge duties.
    13.3v
    13.6v
    14.7v

    To increase your voltage
increase your minimum and moderate phase duties.
if you want to increase your on-start duty, increase your duty adder.

Do not increase your duty past the stock maximum 14.7v
Do not increase your duty past 102.35%

increase your phase duties *moderately* until you see the charging voltage you are targeting.

So I just ordered a Tactrix Openport 2.0

My only goal is to flash the 1.5 tune to my 2016 SR5 and eventually 2.0 when it's released. I don't plan on making my own tunes.
So do I need to purchase VF tuner AND the 3.5L Tacoma Tune Pack if I just plan on using their tunes?

I'm not positive but the way I understand it , you do not have to buy anything else.

Gave it a test, but unfortunately these did not net any gain. I initially tried increasing both the 13.3 and 13.6 value by about 9 each and didn't see any increase. I then took the 13.3 to 95 and the 13.6 to 101, and again no increase. Flashed back to the stock values.
