New to the forum, first “real” post. I’ve done a bit of research on the frame rust issue. Honestly I didn’t even know it was a thing on post-2004 models until I inquired about a 2010 yesterday and the dealer told me that truck had its frame recently replaced under the recall. If it’s been replaced is that a concern? Especially since it seems as though it was done not too long ago? I haven’t been to see the truck to look at it, it’s a bit of a drive to get to and given the current state of things I don’t want to just casually go into a dealer unless I’m very serious about the truck.

Replaced = happiness. Mine was done 2 1/2 years ago. They replace the Lower Control Arms, hard brake lines, other bits. It's a good thing. Mine drives like new.

New frame is good, if the work putting it back together was good.

I wouldn't sweat it. A new frame is a good thing. It wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying it.

That said....If it were me, I would crawl under it and spend some time under there....looking for leaks, loose nuts/bolts, things non attached, etc.

More than likely you'll find it all as it should be. Not a lot of oil change techs doing frame replacements at dealerships.

The frame is no longer a concern, but you need to check out everything else under the truck, then maybe make an offer accordingly to condition.

A rusty truck with and old rusty frame would be a concern. A rusty truck with a new frame would be less of a concern. Gotta go look
