I noticed this red light flashing on the dash tonight as I was exiting the truck. I thought it would go out once I closed and locked the truck. It would blink on and off so quickly I couldn't get a good look at it. But I was able after several tries to get a pic of it and see it has a key symbol. I have never seen this flash before and have no idea what it means. And no, I did not leave the key in the ignition and yes the truck is locked.

This is in most vehicles. It’s flashing to show that the key is chipped hopefully deterring thieves.

Should this thing be flashing constantly?

And just to complete my original thought, your truck should not do that. Mine flashes until you put the key in the ignition, and stays off until you pull the key out at which point it goes back to its flashing routine.

Sounds like you have something else going on here.

My girlfriend’s 2012 Infiniti would do this when the battery in the key was getting low, as a reminder to charge it
