All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
cause I’m going to Carolina in my mind...

    Sorry I misspoke...
I’d been eyeballing Fall BRANCH Falls (and Rich Mtn) for a half-day adventure...
Was a ton of fun and was my wife & kid’s first dirt road ride in the new Taco...
Snagged some beer-to-go at Grumpy Old Men Brewery. Was sad to see the whole city of Blue Ridge shut down... except for the Walmart of course...

We used to ride a trail called Rich Mountain Road, north of Elijay. It was an old, (very) unmaintained county road, between a wilderness area and National Forest, I believe. It is (was) just north of the concrete plant, about 5 miles north of Elijay. The road followed the ridgeline north, and the end of the road came out at a game checking station.

Unfortunately, the county closed it after some a$$hat from the AJC wrote an article about the road - how "undriveable" it was, etc. This moron did not know we took first-time off road drivers up this road during our Backcountry Awareness classes. (Some people are not worth the oxygen they consume.)

I'm just rambling. @GATacoRookie mentioned Rich Mt, and reminded of this old, great, pleasurable wheelin' trail.

At least I have some great pictures!

I'd like to see them too.

Looks like you guys had a better time than we did at Vogel State Park. Was a decently long drive to get up there and even thought it was "open" everything was closed. Add to that the wind and the temp and it wasn't very pleasant to be out. Within seconds of getting out of the car, my son's teeth were chattering and my daughter asked if she could get back in the car.

....so we went to an ice cream creamery place that we passed along the way thinking that the kids could get a scoop of ice cream. Nope. that part was closed and you could only buy pints for the price of a gallon at the grocery store. so we headed to a burger and shake place that was down the street. It was pretty good. I'd recommend it if I knew the name of it....sign just said Burger-Shake. We ended up having a picnic in the parking lot. I would definitely not drive 2 hours for a burger and shake though....unless it was for Whataburger.

I've had both on many occasions and truthfully like both. However, Whataburger is better (and closer).

I've actually never been to a Whataburger.

As for location, you can In-N-Out in Texas now, so they're about equidistant from here.

    Road trip anyone?!?!?!!?!? :dancingbacon:

Yep. We moved here from Fort Worth, so I got to eat at both regularly. Without using google, the nearest In-N-Out that I know of is in Dallas, TX. There are Whataburger locations in Montgomery, AL and Thomasville, GA.

I did not know there were any this side of the Mississippi.

I will have to go to Whataburger, since one is fairly close and all.

That's a great pic! Snag a Circular Polarizer filter. It'll take those reflections off of the rocks and pools at the bottom of the falls while saturating the colors a hue deeper. Killer tool to use on waterfall shots, and they're not very expensive.

Which end of the lake were you at?

We stopped by a campground at the north end, and will be there again next weekend. Will most likely be bringing the kayak as well.

North end. We put in at the boat ramp by the dam, paddled out to the trio of islands at that end. Probably going back next weekend. I’m looking for a boat.

side benefit is it will help protect the lens from scratches. Once the lens is scratched, there isn't much saving it.
