Sup gents, new to the whole tire and alignment game so please go easy on me.

My set up: king 2.5s, camburg UCAs, Cooper discoverer stt pros 285/75/16, with stock TRD OR wheels, alignment info is attached.

it seems that I am rubbing at full lock. I already have a CMC and have been trimming wheel well plastic day by day. It does not seem that the UCA has any rub marks on it and when I look there doesn’t seem to be an issue. However, when I drive and go full lock, it sounds like it’s rubbing.

what could possibly be causing this? Alignment? Offset of the stock wheels?

really any advice would be appreciated!778CF9BA-E420-47FF-A13E-B5FCAB6A6427.jpg22C2F0E5-0BC4-47E4-A73C-E546F1F3804F.jpg

I think the issue may be the lack of actually lift in the front. Sits about 1 inch lower that the back. Their isn’t much pre load.

or am I way off base?

Turn the wheel full lock hop out and look around to see where the tire is close to something. Do it for both directions. My guess is you could be close to the frame behind the tire at full lock if you don’t have wheel spacers but I am not familiar with third gens.

Climb under and all around that thing and find out where the contact is. There will be evidence/witness marks.

Get your truck a little dirty, then drive on pavement and replicate how you typically would get the rubbing. Then you can get out and see where the smears are

are you running spacers upfront? your caster can be set a little bit higher too.

Not with a full king set up.

He needs more preload in the coil over and a cab mount chop with that tire size. And being on the stock wheel, he may also be rubbing on the ucas.

OP mentioned he had the CMC done and doesn’t see signs of rubbing the UCA’s

Looks like there are rub marks on the outside tread on the outer most tread blocks. The one I circled and the one below it in the right.20200420_235320.jpg

What if you put chalk on the edge of the tire and see where the chalk rubs off

    Just a thought

I think I see it. If I’m looking at it right, I see those smudge marks on the rest of the outer blocks too. Maybe not an aggressive enough CMC?

Most likely rubbing frame at full lock. For 35s I needed -20 offset to not rub frame. 33s you probably only need -6 offset. Being stock wheels a 1.25 spacer would get you there. You might be able to use a .75 spacer for +7 offset and you might not rub but for .75 spacers you might need to trim wheel studs

He could get a little more caster at 4 to 4.5 and move the wheel forward a little, but yes, the cmc doesn't look aggressive enough. May have left too much material near the body mount.

What I did to locate all my rub marks was put painters tape on the lower area of the flares, UCA’s and the cab mount area. Then just drive it, make all the full-lock turns and in reverse, just drive it in every scenario you would put yourself into. Then remedy accordingly

I haven’t seen the back of those wheels but if there are gaps, 0.75” spacers oughta fit without trimming the studs. Definitely would recommend BORA

UCA or swaybar more than likely needs wheel spacers if was 265/75 I would say it’s something else
