I have a 2012 Tacoma 2WD base 5 bolt 2.7 4cyl. I ordered a set of shoes off line that were very cheap. 15 bucks shipped. They squeek. So I went to O'Rilies and bought a new set of shoes. Took off the drum and the pins were not correct for my truck. No problem took them back but the issue was that they where the correct ones according to the computer. They took out another set and it was the same and a set of a different manufacture and the same again. I went to NAPA and Auto Zone and the same again. Pins for the parking break and auto adjuster were wrong.. I went to Toyota and same thing. The shoes I ordered off of eBay were fine. Pins matched perfect. Not sure what is going on. They all checked to see if there was some transitional issue, none. Not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

Are you sure they were looking up 5 bolt pattern brake shoes, and not a 6 bolt rear end?

I took the drum off again. After looking at it, it may be that the pin I thought was wrong is a pin that I need to pull and replace on the new shoes. Its on the parking break side. It has two pins one top and one about 1/3rd of the way down. After looking at it it must be able to be removed and put on the new shoe then replace the horse shoe keeper. I did not remember doing this on the last set. This would be why I did not think they matched up.

Did you put the shoes in the correct spot. Driver side should look like this....minus the self adjuster

I finally got a chance to put new brake shoes on the Tacoma. Got a set from Autozone. Bought the best ones they had in stock. Put them on and its been quiet for the last week they have been on. So hoping that was the issue.

Regarding your pin issue...I just replaced drums and shoes, the pin on the new shoes was SLIGHTLY too large. I took the calipers to them and it was in the realm of .1 MM, or something. Used the dremel in the corresponding hole and they fit right in there, and sound fine.

Good luck with the AZ brakes, i've had good luck with duralast brakes in the past.
