I was hoping someone with access to labor guide books can tell me how many hours the books say for a rear main seal replacement with an auto trans, 4x4 and 4.0L V6 engine.
I know the job is basically all labor as the parts are next to nothing in comparison. I know that the trans needs to be removed in order to replace the rear main seal on the engine.

    Thanks

I recently had this done and I was charged 4 hours of labor. I normally do all my own maintenance but didn't want to drop the trans myself in my garage.

Hope that gives you some idea....

wow. Was that actual time or book time, or you don't know? Had a dealer quote me 14 hours.....which I don't think should take that long.

I am not sure because I dropped it off in the morning and picked it that evening. I think the cost was about $500 bucks. It sucks considering the seal is so inexpensive.

That dealer is full of shit. I believe it’s 5 hours. Parts and labor should run approx 500-600 dollars.
