I drove my 95.5 Taco in NH until I needed family space and bought the 2011. I always replace and grease/anti-seize the dogsnot out of the hardware.

The bolts are application specific, so I’ll have to fess up the money, but I can get the nuts locally.

You don’t happen to know that online Toyota parts shop (out of AZ?) that generally has good prices?

I reused the nuts and bolts, but they are inexpensive.

 

I crawled under there to saturate them with PB Blaster and mine are rusted to hell. Guaranteed I’m snapping a few.

 

I just used Mcgeorge. https://parts.mcgeorgetoyota.com They are out of VA, so on our coast = faster shipping along with a lower rate. The best price for what I was buying & factoring in reviews. I ordered on Mon night. They shipped Wed A.M. & I had them Friday. So really a four day turn around which is pretty darn good considering the age of the truck....

 

Might be a good idea to get the hardware. If you don't use it most dealers will accept returns

 

Got the fronts done yesterday afternoon. Had an annoying clunk in the front end, turned out to be the driver side bushing. So happy. Can’t wait to get the rest done!

 

Front clunk went away (or, at least, one of them ;|). I decided to replace all 6 bushings when I noticed my FP rad bushing was ripped. Probably the Suburban I pulled out of a muddy ditch and they got so excited they took off while I was still connected (insert tire screech)

 

Nice write up. Subbing cause I need to do the rad bushings soon..

 

Yeah. That's how I started down this rabbit hole. I put my rad bushings on somewhere around the time I put on my sliders, which is how I came up with body bushings as a solution to the sliders hitting the pinch weld. Now I'm using COVID as an excuse to do a bunch of front end work I've been neglecting. Need to have projects, or I'll go crazy.

 

Isn't that the truth! Been working on my taco, my wife's Highlander & my old 65 Ford F100. And lots of projects around the house.

 

Waiting for that stimulus check to hit my account so I can get these repairs done.

 

I've got a first gen and I'm looking to get about a 1/2" body lift. From looking at the pics on here it looks like the Gen 2 oem upper bushing is taller than the Gen 1s. Anyone know if the bolt spacing on the frame plate is the same from Gen 1 to Gen 2? Would someone with a Gen 2 be able to measure the center to center distance between the two frame to plate bolts?

I skimmed through about half of this thread and didn't see any mention of doing this. Good/bad idea? Thanks!

 

I called ES and they said that both kits use the same frame plate. I'm gonna try it and I'll let you know how it goes.

I finally got rid of the clunk that had been driving me nuts for the past few months.

 

Here's what mine currently look like. Sun is brutal today so I didn't sit on the hot pavement for long trying to capture the best pics. I have a terrible taco lean and wondering if this is contributing. I know the majority of pics are of the bottom bushing and not the top which has more potential to get crushed. Anyway....thoughts on how they look from those that have already done it? And how bad is that one bolt going to be to remove! lol
