I’m building a flatbed to accommodate the extra width of a Nomad. Plus, the flatbed will have a positive gain in storage space for extra crap...

Lets built two to reduce costs!

I'm a soon-to-be Drifter owner and the only flaw I can see is the bed mattress being a bit narrow for my liking with two people sleeping up there.

Didn't you mention somewhere wanting the 160 case? I could have sworn I saw a posting about them. If so, how come? Didn't you like the long ones?[/QUOTE]

My pipe dream plan is to flat bed and build a UTE style tray that my drifter will bolt to. It will have all of my cabinetry fabbed up as part of the tray as well. The idea is slide the whole unit on and off similar to a FWC flatbed model. go from full camper to full flat bed using camper jacks

one day maybe lol or what ever the Vagabros come out withwill be cooler then I don't have to engineer it

Am I understanding your plan correctly that you are going to build a first gen tundra which would normally use a Drifter but build a little larger flatbed to accept a nomad?

I think he is building a flatbed for his tacoma which is big enough to fit a nomad (full size truck camper).

    Drifter....ARRIVED!
Love our awning. Haven't noticed it making noise, but VO installed it so it came with the camper so it's hard to isolate any awning specific sounds. As others have said, its installed and we haven't taken it off (we also haven't wanted to). Though it was bigger than expected, it has never gotten in the way on the trail or been a concern. Would totally recommend it. The one issue we are trying to troubleshoot is the rain. We get a good amount of drip/run-in onto the tailgate when it is raining because the awning leaves a gap and it runs down the side of the glass top part of the tailgate. We'd like to minimize that. We have some plastic picnic table cloths that we will try out next time we are in this situation to try and funnel it off to the side. Will report back.
